Sorry, one more item for you to consider: Caswell is “the” place to get polishing compounds for buffing wheels:

http://www.caswellplating.com/buffs/buffing.htm

They’re also the place to get lots of other metal finishing inputs. For electroless nickel plating on guns, Caswell is the place to get the kits more cheaply than Brownells. Brownells’ kit is just fine, Caswell is (last I checked) cheaper for retail buyers. For hot blueing, I’d still go with Brownells’ setup. They have it down to a very rapid “buy XYZ and go” setup now.

100% American made?! Cool. The reason I haven’t picked up a Springfield 1911 is because they are made in some third-world craphole.

NRA Convention opens the 29th of April in Pittsburg and they will intro this new Ruger.

Will be interesting to see how shooters compare it to Remington's 1911 R1.

Glocks have triggers that feel like the rubber band breaking in a toy. The leaf-style spring of the 1911 extractor and the feed ramp not being integral to the barrel make the 1911 obsolte. See how Sig, Beretta, S&W, and Ruger all have copied the later Browning Hi-Power design, not the 1911. You do not have to spend a small fortune on those design to make them reliable and accurate.

I have a RIA 1911 that I did not have to spend a fortune on to get it fitted right and shoot accurately. I’m also fond of My Colt Police Positive made in the early 60’s.

My Kimber is reliable and I did not spend a fortune.

You must be thinking of the guns of 30 years ago.

Both sound like fine weapons.
I think the sweetest trigger pulls I have ever experienced were on some of those "old" Police Positives and old S&W's. They just "feel" so right.

Current (June) issue of AMERICAN RIFLEMAN features Centennial 1911 stories. Various models. Military use. Quite interesting.

Like all of Hickock45’s videos. Is it his son who does the camera work?
