Reminds me of an incident a year or two ago when I took my girls to see the city fireworks. Long story short, the police started harassing me about sitting on private property that had been opened to the public. I asked them if there had been a complaint, and they started puffing up like peacocks. It soon became evident that even though they had no authority whatsoever, they were going to escalate the incident to arresting me, if I didn’t concede to their unlawful demands.
Despite the fact that the area had been opened to the public and there was no complaint, they were declaring that it was trespassing, but trespassing requires that you not be invited and that the owner doesn't want you there.
