Freed to kill: Teenage gunman accused of murdering two British tourists in Florida was released

The 16-year-old charged with murdering two British holidaymakers in Florida was freed by a judge two weeks ago after he was arrested over an armed robbery, it emerged today.

Shawn Tyson, who allegedly shot James Cooper and James Kouzaris in the back as they ran away, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the incident. However as it was his first offence he was released from custody while police investigated the case.

He will now be charged as an adult and, if convicted of first-degree murder of the two Britons on Saturday evening, could face the death penalty. Police investigators were last night trying to piece together how the two university friends were murdered in a gang-ridden neighbourhood in the city of Sarasota.

U.S. officers were said to be mystified that the two middle-class visitors were in the Newton district. One theory, however, is that they may have accepted the offer of a lift back to their upmarket resort 12 miles away, only to find themselves being set up for a robbery. The pair were fleeing for their lives when they were shot ‘multiple times’ in the back with a handgun at 3am. They were left to die in a run-down housing project infamous for drug-dealing and violent gang activity. Their bodies were found 50ft apart surrounded by at least 20 bullet cases. It was understood that the weapon allegedly used by Tyson was a TEC-9, a semi-automatic handgun.

Mr Cooper, 25, a tennis coach who once played Andy Murray, and Mr Kouzaris, 24, a town planner and leading amateur rugby player, met while studying at Sheffield University. They had arrived in Florida last week in time to celebrate Mr Cooper’s 25th birthday on Wednesday.

The question is will the British feel justice had been served when a Florida Jury sentences him to death?

The Brits will blame the gun and make excuses for the murderer!

"This desperate poverty and squalor has served as the breeding ground for serious, often lethal crime from young men who feel they have nothing to lose, in a society which has given them nothing. And it is precisely this sense of desperation which makes these neighborhoods so dangerous for those outsiders unfortunate or foolish enough to enter them.

I bet the killer's never met his father. I wonder how come the media never makes that connection.

There is no “desperate poverty” in American cities.

Sure!

They are in poverty and “desperate” to get the latest plasma TV instead of the old color 38” they watch now, “desperate” for the latest fashions and $200 shoes, “desperate” for gold chains and other outward symbols of affluence, and mostly “desperate” to lose weight - as obesity is the #1 nutrition related problem of these ‘desperately poor’ and they are in fact MORE likely to be obese if they are poor.

A male father is two parts. The male sexual sperm part, and then the decades, sometime fifty year, shepherding guiding of the male through economic, spiritual, physical, moral and ethical travels. A creature defined as male, who cast away his children, isn’t a father. A ‘father’, no matter what his social, credentialed, or economic station who shepards his son, is a noble, heroic creature.

I resent sperm depositors being titled with the word ‘father’.

If he isn’t executed, which is just and proper, he’ll kill again. Those that release him will sleep soundly, with pensions.

No, there isn’t. Anyone that thinks so is free to walk the slums of Rio, or Lagos.

They were taking in the local color no doubt, and tisk tisking about how racist the US is. Or, they were there to buy drugs.

Contrary to what probably passes for accepted wisdom in the US, most Britons, when polled believe in bringing back hanging. It will never happen though, because the overwhelming majority of our political elite believe it is a barbaric relic of the past, and even if they didn’t, our EU masters in Brussels have banned member states from even considering bringing it back. Abortion of innocent babies is however, perfectly acceptable. In fact, it will soon become compulsory for non-abortion states like Ireland to adopt it, especially now they have Ireland totally by the balls with the recent bailout...

The chief determinant in violent crime, as you allude, is not poverty but fatherlessness.
