Right now, Michele Bachmann is my Candidate, I hope she runs, I think she's smart, a true Tea Party Candidate, and she has integrity. I will vote for Sarah too, but I think Michele is more electable.
I like Bachman and would support her.
I also like Palin, Trump, Gingrich, Rubio and few other real conservatives.
My biggest nightmare is that a lot of conservatives will run in the primaries, split the conservative GOP vote, and we will wind up with a RINO supported, cross-over Democrat supported loser like John McCain again. I’m talking a Romney, Pawlenty, Giuliani, Christie, Huckabee type - all LOOSERS.
Don’t worry about that, the GOP is dead, vote for a true conservative, we’ll win. There will be no vote splitting, the GOP is simply dead as we know it, and that is a good thing. As for your list of candidates, I also would vote for all of those as well if given the opportunity. I really like Bachmann though, every time I see her on FoxNews I am more impressed each time.
I’m with you on this one.
Someone will be along shortly to spout the “conventional wisdom” about representatives as presidential candidates but that house has burned to the ground and our elections are going to be different from here on out.
So why did she vote against the last military pay bill that would have guaranteed their pay in the event of a shutdown?
Well now I’m confused, curiosity. You said Bachmann was a “blithering idiot”. So how can she possibly be the potential next president?
My question, and your quote:
‘How about the TEA party, curiosity?’
“It’s a mixed bag. Some of TEA party members are great and I wholeheartedly endorse. Nikki Haley and Marco Rubio are my favorites. Others, such as Michelle Bachmann and Christine O’Donnell, are blithering idiots who have done considerable damage to the conservative cause.”
You might want to do some research on Gingrich and then rethink your classification of him as a conservative.
Electability is determined during the campaigns - the primary seasons. Pre-electability before people compete is like giving your opinion on who is the favorite to win a professional sport championship.
Well said.
I would rather see Michelle Bachmann knuckle down in the House of Representatives and start building some fires under committee chairmen and members, to begin the reforms that only Congress can enact, and which largely have to be initiated in the House.
Michelle does not yet have the experience or tempering that I consider necessary for a successful Presidential candidate. Besides, the real battles need to be fought and won in the Congress first.
Gingrich KNOWS the system and aside from a few idiotic statements about things like global warming, he is LIGHT years ahead of the RINOs in the party and the Bush Klan.
But I believe his age is against him as well as some baggage he carries. But then Trump was married three times and has supported some liberal Democrats in the past.
Its going to be a difficult choice, but I think it would be far better for the conservative movement to arrive at some consensus BEFORE the primaries so we don’t split our votes.
Ditto open-borders Rubio.
Michele Bachmann will never become the candidate. Unfortunately she has a lot going for her, but if the tea party really knew “her record” then she would not be so welcome. She has too poor of a voting record on Homeland Security, and just recently voted to extend the Patriot Act. First off they are misnomers and evil. Homeland Security is now tearing down websites and using the TSA on little girls, not profiling and not protecting the border. The Patriot Act, is far from Patriotic. The patriot act has allowed average americans to be harassed by big brother. Unfortunately Michele is a wasted candidate.
I like your thinking. We must find a way to avoid a RINO in 2012. I heard a report that a trial Huckabee / Trump ticket was being floated today. How awful would that be. Sure, without Huck, I'd support it.
And let business decide amnesty issues Trump.
I like both Palin and Bachmann, but I figure they would both garner close to the same number of votes in a head to head against Obama.
Both of them would have to fight through the establishment Republicans and the msm.
Both of them could run a better campaign than McCain did in ‘08 and as weak as he was/is, even he was leading Obama in many polls late in the campaign until the economic mess that brought on the TARP fiasco.
I don’t buy the “Palin is unelectable” mantra for a minute (which, iirc, Reagan was supposed to be a joke candidate by many repeating the same “conventional wisdom” in ‘80).
Almost ANYONE who is a tough fiscal conservative will give Obama a real run for the money, imo. There are a lot of people who voted for Obama in ‘08 who will NOT make the same mistake twice in light of everything that has happened in the past two years.
If Bachmann beats Palin and all other candidates in the primaries, then I’ll back her all the way to the voting booth. I just hope the primaries don’t give us another McCain type candidate this go around!
Trump would never play second fiddle
World Trade Organization
North American Free Trade Agreement
Council on Foreign Relations
Quit immediately after winning reelection
Supported Dede Scozzafava
Demanded ICE stop raiding plants in Georgia that hire illegals
Had three different positions on Libya in three days
That Newt Gingrich?
She’s lovely, intelligent and a good Conservative (as is Sarah)- but both are unelectable.
So was Obama. We knew before the election he was a Muslim. He 'won' anyway.
