Is guitar rock dying?
Was there just a limited amount of good riffs, and they all got used up in the 60s and 70s?
(always liked Street of Dreams, btw)
most underrated guitarist imho
Speed King ....... Deep Purple
I thought you posted “Blackie Lawless”..never mind.
Great player, notorious assshole.
Happy 66th, Richard.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
I gotta go play my Made In Japan CD. I have the album as well although it is probably unplayable now.
Happy birthday Ritchie! Still hoping for a Rainbow reunion, but I’m not holding my breath.
I was listening to a hard rock radio show a few weeks ago, and a guy called in and claimed to live in the same town as Blackmore. He said that he sometimes sees Blackmore in his local supermarket. Of course, I have no idea if he was telling the truth, but the story was intriguing. Can you imagine doing your grocery shopping and all of a sudden you see Ritchie Blackmore in the produce aisle picking out zucchini? It would freak me out.
Ah...Deep Purple was one of my first concert experiences.
It was at Cobo Hall, in Detroit, in 1974. It was just after they recorded “Made in Japan”. That black Strat probably was one of the biggest influences why I took up guitar. He would fling it over ten feet in the air during his solos. Unbelievable.
