Yes, but according to what I have read in the Wall Street Journal, the zip code with the highest percentage of Social Security disability payments comes from there. No wonder SS is in trouble.

Tell him you’ll show him proof that PR isn’t a state when he shows you where the right to privacy is in the constitution.

If Puerto Rico became a state most residents would qualify for food stamps and earned income tax refunds. It would be an instant money pit. They would vote Democrat to loot the mainland.
Grammar lesson: it's a United, not an United. Words that start with a you sound do not follow the vowel rule.

While you can’t trust everything Wikipedia states it is up to date. If you are arguing with a wife though discretion is the better part of valor.

Your liberal friend is a moron.
While Puerto Rico MAY be one of the 57 states in the ‘United States of Obama’, it is NOT one of the 50 states that make up the United States of America.
Puerto Rico is a U.S. Territory.

Puerto Rico is, of course, one of the 57 United States.

Does he agree that there are only 50 states? If so, have him read the list of states in alphabetical order including Puerto Rico and ask him if Wyoming is still a state.
Or get him to go to www.50states.com

Don’t forget Kentucky!
I don’t know, but PR is referred to as a commonwealth of the US. It is still a territory with its own non voting delegate in the House.
Mark Russell used to that sending a non-voting delegate to the House, was like sending a eunuch to an orgy.

Well I guess you can have her call the governor's office and ask them when they became a state.

He keeps babbling on and on how he has proof, but never produces it. Lemme guess--he's also seen Obama's long-form birth certificate.

Tell him his wife doesn’t know what she is talking about.,There are only 50 stars on the flag one for each state and PR has no senators like they would if they were a state. The plus is that from now on you never have to think he knows what he is talking about again.
To: Mikey
Don’t try to reason with a liberal, any more than you would try to reason with your dog when you are housebreaking a puppy. Liberals can be trained, barely, although nowhere near as easily as an intelligent animal like a dog, but they do not respond to logic or facts.

Always been a sticky wicket for me, Constitutional Literalist that I am.
(And if Amendment V requires poor people to be given a free lawyer, than Amendment II requires poor people to be given a free gun— but I digress.)

The Pro-Statehood party in Puerto Rico is affiliated with the (mainland) Republican Party, not the Dems. That may be true but consider this sneaky campaign by the New Progressive Party:

Fine. It’s a state. Now ask him to name the senators, the reps and how their last several votes tallied with the ds and rs.
