Our Greatest Guitar Solo Of All Time poll certainly caused some fierce debate amongst guitarists
and that was just in our office. Choosing the 'greatest' guitar solo is obviously subjective in the extreme. But Guitarist had other motivations too we were eager to see how many modern solos have impressed you all in the thirteen years since our last solo poll. The results were suprising. After asking for your nominations, we took the 20 most popular and asked for you vote on which your though was most deserving here and at MusicRadar. You voted in your thousands, fanbases were motivated and old favourites suffered.
Oh no kidding? Well you know, some of the absolute best creativity comes from tension and hatred! It may very well be their best work.
Using Fleetwood Mac as an example and their ‘Rumours’ album. Made at a time where all the relationships were taking a nosedive. Very good stuff.
You have a point.....can you imaging how insulting it would be to know that as Warrant’s guitarist you got bumped for (cough) CC DeVille?
LOL! Now that’s a good one. Andrew Effin Loyd Weber! lol
Had the honor of seeing him about 4 years ago in Laughlin NV.
Mind=BLOWN.
Mine, not his ;) He ain’t getting younger but he still has it in spades.
Wow, that’s cool. I didn’t know Clapton had ever recorded that.
I started to mention Billy Gibbons when I started at the top of the threed but kept reading and ya beat me to it.
Billy and Jimi Hendrix connection...

Gibbons plus Dusty Hills are an amazing guitar duo as well.
You’re right. Stevie Ray Vaughn was mentioned who was heavily influenced by blues. BB is definitely an honorable mention.
Also, Kenny Wayne Shepard...not as well known but I believe he looked to the greats while he was learning to play; BB King, Stevie Ray etc. And himself plays a mean guitar.

prince kicked butt on “still my guitar gently weeps”..a tribute to George Harrison
Just found this one on YouTube, this was some early Pat Metheny, back in 1980, around the time I first got into listening to him.....Nobody sounded like Metheny back then on electric (The Gibson ES-175 with the toothbrush), and I really miss that sound from him

Because i have so many things to say on this thread..
Anything that Dave Murray of Iron Maiden plays on the Fear of the Dark album. That was him at what I personally consider his absolute best lead work. His playing was creamy, tone full of emotion.
Judas Be My Guide - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YanCesjz3bw
Chains of Misery - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JSsOlkSD4U
Weekend Warrior (first solo) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Zj7XmbFuiI
It almost feels like the whole of “Goin’ Home” is a solo.
LOL!
Well your thread turned out to be a wonderful diversion from all the insanity we find ourselves surrounded by. Thanks so much for starting it. We should do something like this at least once a week...you know something to keep our spirits up recalling what is good and decent and who we are as a people; as Americans
Have to think of a name... hmmmmmm Anyway thanks again IC!
I like a lot of GNR songs, but I loathe Sweet Child o'Mine - the opening riff sounds EXACTLY like Rush's "Xanadu."
Only GNR song worth a damn is “Welcome To The Jungle.” Anybody who waited 15 years for the “Chinese Democracy” album is an idiot.
