Thursday, April 28 Hart Memorial Trophy (MVP)
Friday, April 29 Jack Adams Award (Coach of the Year)
Monday, May 2 NHL Foundation Player Award (contributions to charitable causes)
General Manager of the Year: Yzerman
Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (skill/sportsmanship): Martin St. Louis
Vezina Trophy (top goaltender): Thomas
James Norris Memorial Trophy (top defenseman): Lidstrom
Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy (perseverance and dedication to hockey): Don't Know
Frank J. Selke Trophy (top defensive forward): Kesler
Hart Memorial Trophy (MVP): D. Sedin
Jack Adams Award (Coach of the Year): Bylsma
I would suggest Ray Emory for the Masterton this year. Just saw him today, standing about 10 ft away. Nice quiet guy. I still hope we beat him tomorrow but I admire his tenacity.
Calder: Jeff Skinner, though he may lose some votes due to the reputation (partly undeserved, I think) he’s starting to gain as a diver and pest.
GM of the Year: Yzerman - hard to argue with this one.
Lady Byng: Lidstrom.
Vezina: Thomas - just look at the numbers.
Norris: Lidstrom will win it, though there are probably others who were better defensemen this year. Hell, I’ll even predict that they rename the trophy after him after he retires.
Masterson: I don’t know if you can win this without playing during the season. If so, then my vote goes to Ian Laperriere (who actually is a nominee). If not, then it should be Ray Emery.
Selke: Kesler walking away.
Hart: Probably ought to be Corey Perry, but they’re never going to give this trophy to one of the most hated pests in the league whose name doesn’t start with S and end with ean Avery. Daniel Sedin gets this one.
Jack Adams: Trotz - Quick, name two players on the Nashville Predators other than Shea Weber! Yeah, me neither, but somehow Trotz got them to fifth place in the West.
