Happy Saturday Freepers! I found a really spiffy old lidded beer stein at Goodwill, and it has an inscription on the pewter lid; I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the last line means? I'm assuming it's military, it looks like the type of thing you give your CO when he changes units. Google only turned up one page, and it's all in German.
The inscription says:
Maj D. Hartin
1973-1976
GenFISichhBw
I appreciate any help you can give me!
German Federal Armed Forces with a designation of unit.
I don’t recognize the abbreviations/acronyms, but my guess is either the medical department staff or the medical corps school of the Bundeswher (German Army).
If you google ‘GenFISichhBw’ a German publication comes up. Probably something to do with the USAF in Germany.
Remember to take the price tag off before you give it to the Major.
Thanks guys, I knew someone here would know the answer!
If Hartin was German, I wonder how it ended up in San Antonio, Tx?
Har! He’ll take it with the tags, and like it. :-)
I’m going to take them off, I just need to figure out how to get them off without scratching it...Goodwill tags don’t peel so easy.

Googled it straight in as on the cup!
Director, Flight Safety of the Bundeswehr (GenFlSichhBw).
Oh geez, thank you! I googled the name and the acronym individually, but I didn’t think to try them all together.
Thank you so much!
“Be sure to drink your Ovaltine” :)
A lousy commercial ?!?!?
Hmm, when I search the whole thing I get several links back to this thread, but that’s it...
WD-40
Central Texas has a huge German footprint. Google ‘Adelsverein’ and ‘Fischer-Miller Grant’.
Thanks, I’ll give it a try!
Wow, that explains a lot of the architecture you see in the really old neighborhoods...I’d never really thought about it before.
Castell was an interesting scene 170 years ago. Look it up: it’s the first planned socialistic society gone bad in Centex.
There is a big Luftwaffe air defense missile training base at Fort Bliss.
simple green, or for organic, use the juice of an orange
Well, it says it’s tin, so I think orange juice would stain, wouldn’t it?
