You know, I started thinking about popular music and how artists do remakes of popular songs.
Here are two songs - one from the original artist and the other who re-did it. Which version was better?
"I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better" The Byrds (1965)- from the album "Mr Tambourine Man"
"I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better" Tom Petty (1989) - from the album "Full Moon Fever"
++++++++++++++++++++++
"The First Cut Is The Deepest" Rod Stewart (1976) - from the album "A Night On The Town"
"The First Cut Is The Deepest" Sheryl Crow (2003) - from the album "The Very best Of Sheryl Crow"
+++++++++++++++++++++++
Yes, I know that other artists have done versions of these songs too. If you think another artist has done a better version, let's hear about it.
BEATLES “ She came in through the bathroom window.”
COCKER
BEATLES “LITTLE HELP ***”
COCKER
Nine Inch Nails or Johnny Cash’s version of “Hurt.”
Remakes that worked for me:
You really got me- The Kinks
The cover I liked better- the one by Van Halen...

“Jump”
Van Halen or Aztec Camera?
For the most part I like cover versions of Dylan songs. He just can’t sing.
Original: "Aura Lee": (popular during the Civil War)
Remake: "Love Me Tender" by Elvis Presley
Yep. That is a good one because it adds a new element - van halen’s guitar - while actually improving on the background vocals. But Tom petty’s stuff is lame compared to the byrds. Tom petty is just repackaged 60s stuff with really nothing new.
I kinda like the aztec camera version, but it makes it entirely different song

Roddy Frame was 17 when he recorded that
How about “The First Cut Is The Deepest” by the original artist, Cat Stevens?
Dont forget the Dead Kennedys Ver.
Sorry I’m late, I was going to post the IBDCSP (In Before Dylan Can’t Sing) predictable and ignorant posts, but my train (public transportation) arrived a few minutes late.
Kind of a creepy title for a Yusuf Islam song,

How about Elvis remaking Elvis. I’m sorry, but I REALLY LOVE the remix:

Suspicious minds.
I suppose we could do a whole thread on Beatles’ covers.
Eleanor Rigby - Wes Montgomery, Ray Charles
Fool on the Hill - Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66
Here Comes the Sun - Richie Havens
