BOLLINGER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - A Bollinger County deputy resigned after an incident at a domestic violence call goes awry.
Sheriff Leo McElrath says Deputy Kelly Barks arrested the man at the scene, and then got his permission to search the residence.
When Barks went inside, she saw the man's three dogs growling at her. She thought one of them bit her, shot him, and went outside. After realizing she was fine, she went back into the residence where McElrath says the dog was still acting aggressive, so she shot him again.
But the aggressive dog, probably isn't what you would think.
"When I found out the dog that was shot was a Chihuahua...

You are right: A Chihuahua?
We have a 10 lb Chihuahua all you would have to do is give her a kick and she would be yelping.
Second: Why would you need to shoot a Chihuahua twice? Somebody needs time at the firing range. Better yet somebody needs a career change.
Oops, my haste got the better of me. At least I used spell checker :/
Because it deserved it?
Given it seems the majority of cops like to shoot dogs these days it isn’t really a gender thing when it comes to popping a dog. Otherwise normally a female officer is far more likely to draw a weapon given their smaller size and weaker strength than a male officer, in similar situations.
Deputy Barks shoots a chihuahua on April Fools Day.
Deputy “Barks” shoots chiuaua, 3 times - story posted 4/1
Really hoping this is some idiots idea of an April fools joke.
>>>She needed to shoot a Chihuahua three times????
9 mm bump.
Chihuahua’s are known for their displeasing dispositions.
Looks just like ours when the Jehovah Witnesses are at the door. LOL!
The scary part was she chased a chihuahua, that she had already shot twice, into its kennel to kill him indicates a very scary temper indeed.
I’m sorry for the little dog (who was only defending its home) but am relieved this incident took her off the force before she killed a child or old person in a rage.
It was a chihuahua. It had it coming, you can bet on it. They are nasty little creatures.
You SWAT a chihuahua.
“Nope, the best that could be hoped is recovery for the value of the dog”.
Jury decisions may not support that claim. Something about “infliction of emotional suffering” or such? ? ?
Alas, the whacko cop does not have to pay, only the taxpayers.
Pity!
Sure . . . Because we all know that you are an elite warrior and a dog is worth more than a human life. Its easy to talk a big game safely behind a keyboard about a hypothetical situation that is extremely unlikely to occur in real life.
Internet warriors are hilarious.
How many cops/day does that pooch eat?!?
All those second-hand donuts are going to give it diabetes.
(back to the story) Poor doggie, after the second shot, when ‘it went into its kennel’, why did she shoot it again, instead of closing the door? (ANSWER: Because she could!)
Besides, it is damned hard to shoot anything, let alone a dog-shooting cop, after being frisked, cuffed, and 'secured' in the back of a patrol car.
I would shoot a chihuahua, out of principle of it being a chihuahua.
You could always kick the dog like this!

A chihuahua? Seriously? Don’t shoot it, just kick it.
