WACO, Texas, March 25 (UPI) -- A young Texas woman decided there is no such thing as bad publicity when she considered names for her Waco eatery and decided on Fat Ho Burger.
The restaurant opened Tuesday, and Lakisha Evans' plan seems to be working so far, KENS-TV in San Antonio reported. She has a straightforward business plan.
"My burgers, they're cheap. They don't go over 6 bucks because I thought, you know, I grew up in poverty," Evans said.
Evans, 23, grew up in Waco with her mother and five siblings. She is the only one in the family to graduate from college.
The whole family is working at Fat Ho Burgers, but Evans said she had to invest everything she owned to start it.
"I had to sell my car, my tires, my TV, my laptop, my computer. I had to sell all this to get this up," she told KENS.
The name is bringing in the customers.
"I was just wondering is this the famous place we can get burgers at," one asked.
Good luck to her.
A Chinese translation of FAT HO might be interesting!
They right next to Big Weenie Dawgs?
Cool. Bet you can get canned salad.
Y’all can stop here on the way to the shoot...
$6 is cheap for a burger and she grew up in poverty?
Good for her!
Gotta be tough to work there if you’re female. Everyone would ask, “Is you the fat ho?”

I wish her all the best.
I hope she makes millions.
She put herself out there and is working for it.
That is the American dream.
...it also sounds like she knows her target market. I’d try it just because it wasn’t P.C.
That’s what I was thinking. Most people I know of, who are mostly cheap are happy with the dollar menu at McD’s.
Can’t say that I’ve ever said or thought it before, but the statement that cme to my mind was.... “You go girl!”
Reminds me of a guy that end up doing VERY well as a technical consultant. But when he started off on his own his FIL told him that he was good with technology but was a lousy salesman and wouldn’t make it.
“But I sure showed him wrong on that bad salesman part. I sold my bikes, my snowmobiles, my motor home.....”
It's the size of her buns. .
I wonder if they serve Griesedieck Beer there?
Fat Ho Burger.
“Ewww, where’d you get that big welfare green pepper burger?”
