What's in a name? Fat Ho Burgers opens

WACO, Texas, March 25 (UPI) -- A young Texas woman decided there is no such thing as bad publicity when she considered names for her Waco eatery and decided on Fat Ho Burger.

The restaurant opened Tuesday, and Lakisha Evans' plan seems to be working so far, KENS-TV in San Antonio reported. She has a straightforward business plan.

"My burgers, they're cheap. They don't go over 6 bucks because I thought, you know, I grew up in poverty," Evans said.

Evans, 23, grew up in Waco with her mother and five siblings. She is the only one in the family to graduate from college.

The whole family is working at Fat Ho Burgers, but Evans said she had to invest everything she owned to start it.

"I had to sell my car, my tires, my TV, my laptop, my computer. I had to sell all this to get this up," she told KENS.

The name is bringing in the customers.

"I was just wondering is this the famous place we can get burgers at," one asked.

LOL! Wonder if it includes the hamburger??

I have the menu, but it is too small too read. A Tiny Fat Ho is on the $1 menu as well!

$6 is cheap for a burger and she grew up in poverty?

I'm sorry, but the famous In-N-Out "Double-Double" has gone up from $2.95 to $3.10 in the past coupla months...but you can still barely finish one. Six Bucks is off my fatburger radar.

The black politicians DO NOT WANT private-sector black entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs might get uppity and speak heresy like the need for less government regulations.

I know (well, I'm acquainted) with a black husband and wife in Los Angeles who own half a dozen Burger King restaurants. Not surprisingly, they're pretty conservative folks.

Well, who wants a tired ho?

A tired ho is probably still more ho than gunner can handle.

No, I haven’t been there yet. I try to eat healthy, so I’m not sure that the Fat Chicken Ho Sandwich is grilled or not.

Haha, we can’t have you turning into a Fat Ho! Seriously she may have hit on the best marketing gimmick since Hooters. Some people I work with ate there about two weeks ago and said the food was nothing memorable but okay.

Correction to above — they ate there last Wednesday. At 7:00 AM and no coffee my sense of time is warped. Anyway, they said the food was okay but not outstanding enough to go back again.
