Does any FReeper live where he/she can buy SunCrest orange soda?

Once upon a time, back in the days of my childhood, there was an orange soda (or as we called it, an "orange Co-Cola") called SunCrest. NB: this is SunCrest, not to be confused with Sunkist orange soda, which was only introduced in the late Seventies). I vividly remember drinking buying bottles of this out of the Coke machine at the local laundromat when my family was washing.

SunCrest was created and originally marketed (1938) by the NuGrape people. But in 1982 it was bought by the Monarch company of Atlanta, GA and it became very scarce, as Sunkist pretty much moved in and took its place. In 2007 the Dad's Root Beer company bought it from Monarch and, as I understand it, it is now sold only in Indiana (though a few nostalgia and specialty businesses still sell it in its vintage bottle).

A couple years ago I actually e-mailed the Dad's company and asked local businesses to begin stocking SunCrest again, but apparently the Dad's Root Beer people are simply not interested in marketing this classic vintage drink any more.

Does anyone else on FR remember SunCrest? Are there any FReepers fortunate enough to live where it can still be purchased today?

This post brought back happy memories of drinking cans of Apple Beer back in the late 60’s...much to my surprise; it is still being produced. Might have to order a 12-pack just for nostalgia...

NuGrape drinks were very good. Wish I could find them.

Also, last summer I was not able to find any peach flavored soft drink. I thought it was very odd because I dad not had a problem finding peach drinks in past summers.

Sounds like Yoo-Hoo...you either loved it or thought it was the most disgusting thing you had ever seen in a bottle...remember to shake it to break the sludge on the bottom.

“But I don’t think people are understanding my request. I’m not asking for obscure specialty businesses. I’m asking if there are any FReepers who can buy it regularly so I can determine where it is actually marketed currently. “

Who cares where its marketed? Do you want to drink some of the stuff or not? Buy a 12 pack, sip, and get your childhood back. Sheesh.. You doing a paper on market analysis of orange drink or what?

She says she thinks it was made by a well known like Nesbitt or Nehi (sp)- and didn’t have a name like Yoo-Hoo. Just the company and ‘chocolate soda’.

I do. I'm simply curious. I'd like to know where its parent company is actually marketing it conventionally, so see how likely it might be to do so nationally (or at least more widely).

They market their root beer nationally. I don't understand why they underplay SunCrest.
