I would suggest an older version (ver 2.4.18.184) of Comodo Firewall. It is freeware and runs with low overhead.

If you run such a firewall, you will need to disable the Windows firewall.

Comodo firewall shows ‘stealth’ on the Gibson Research tests.

So he gets bombarded with notices to update the extremely outdated firewall?

Either install the latest version of Comodo or Microsoft Security Essentials. Both are free and highly effective! MSE is set it and forget it, Comodo is the best of the best if you take the time to understand it.

TomGuy, I've just visited the download site. Unfortunately, it's also an anti-virus program, and as I understand it it's not a good idea to have two anti-virus programs on a single computer. Is there some way I can get the firewall without getting the anti-virus?

By the way, it just happened again.
