First Reports Of iPad 2 Defects Surface

Several Apple customers who have purchased the newest iPad 2 device are reporting certain hardware issues that are not new to Apple products released in the recent past.

According to Engadget, several users have reported that the device's backlight is 'leaking', meaning that light from the device is 'bleeding' into the device's display from some parts of the LCD screens.

The defect is noticeable when users are watching a dark scene in a movie or when using an app that has a black background.

Another defect that has come to the notice of keen-eyed Apple users is the appearance of yellow tints or discoloration on some areas of the screen. A similar problem was reported by users of Apple's iPhone 4 but the blotches seemed to die out after a while, Mac Rumors reports.

At that time, users were told that Apple or its manufacturing partners were using a bonding agent called Organofunctional Silane Z-6011, which used to bond the layers of glass. The yellow discoloration was appearing because Apple was shipping the devices so quickly that the solution was unable to 'evaporate' before it reached customers.

Apple is yet to respond to the reports about apparent defects that have been popping up around the web.

What are the primary difference between Ipad1 and Ipad2? I think I will have an opportunity to get an Ipad 1 cheap from either of a couple of buddies who are upgrading to the new version.

The new one is thinner and faster. There are cameras, but I don’t care about that. If you are a musician, garage band is amazing.

If those things don’t move you, grab the old one at a great price! Definitely!

What are the primary difference between Ipad1 and Ipad2?

iPad2 has an improved operating system, better processor and two cameras.

If you do not video-chat, the cameras mean nothing.

The processor gives better speed and stability, but the original iPad was not bad in these areas anyway.

As always, it comes down to what do YOU want to use it for?

"As always, it comes down to what do YOU want to use it for?"

Aside from basic web surfing and e-mail I would have two main uses:

1. I know my favorite Bible research software "Logos" has an Ipad app. that I would use a LOT. and 2. I would like to be able to load legal cases law in .pdf form to it so I could carry around lots of cases and research in an easy, portable way to review and markup? Can you annotate and mark up .pdf docs on the Ipad? And would version 1 be adequate for the above stated needs?

The original iPad will work just fine for you.

With regard to annotating, I believe iAnnotate is the application you are looking for. Check their website to see if it has all the features you want: iAnnotate

Then, go on eBay and start shopping for that iPad!

I use “Goodreader” for that purpose. It’s a fantastic program. I’ve used it to mark up, higlight, and free draw on study guides that I’ve downloaded. IIRC, it was not too expensive.

Let your bussies know of the new pricing from AT&T!

“On top of the original $100 discount that went into effect when the iPad 2 was announced, pricing is now set at $429 for the 16 GB 3G model and curiously at $529 for either the 32 GB or 64 GB model.”
