“Yet Rose went to Michigan, one of the most prominent universities in the United States.”
Hahaha, good one. One of the greatest things about FR is its members ability to inject humor into any discussion.
;-)
Jalen Rose had to know that Chris Webber was recruited by Duke. Duke was reportedly his second choice behind Michigan.
Surely you realize you are strengthening my point.
A school makes its own tradition. Doesn’t have to recruit “ghetto kids” to be successful.
Coach Knight coached West Point before he made Indiana a multiple National Champion.
While at West Point, Coach Knight coached a Cadet named Mike Krzyzewski. West Point Grad Krzyzewski went on to coach West Point, then went on to Duke.
Now, granted Duke had gone to the NCAA finals a couple years before Coach K got there, he made that program.
They built their own tradition of excellence.
I don’t really disagree. I guess my point is there aren’t many Bob Knight’s or Coach K’s out there.
The best shall come last. The whole letter was terrific, but the close was just perfect. I feel really, really old. I remember Hill playing bb in high school.
You’re absolutely right.
I didn’t watch that fiction called “Fab Five” but G.Hill can go screw himself.
I won’t forget when he was stumping for John Kerry and gave a speech at the old Orlando Arena. He carried on about how “horrible the last 4 years were” under George Bush. He was basically just making stuff up and talking in generalities. But most people in Orlando don’t like the guy because he made $ 90 million sitting on the Magic’s bench with a bum ankle over 7 years.
How is that run at a Championship going Grant? Retired yet?
