I see the two crimes as completely different. An adult man who seduces a female student (or a male student) is far more likely to be successful only because of the difference in power. An adult woman who seduces a student is far more likely to succeed because it’s what the student would want regardless of whether it’s his teacher or a total stranger. Both should lose their jobs and go to jail, but the man’s crime is usually worse in fact, and he should go to jail for far longer.

1. Yes, I'm male. 2. My guess would be that the kind of man who is dangerous and fantasizes about female students would not argue that a man committing that crime is worse than a woman. I am very happy to be married to someone my own age rather than in a relationship with a teenage girl.
