Davis was released from detention after around $700,000 was paid to each family of the two men allegedly shot and killed by Davis, totaling around $1.4 million, a lawyer involved in the case told ABC News. Now, go and take the money back or destroy it.

Dunno if its Sharia related, but its apparently a traditional method of settling scores in Pakistan.
Very good news for Mr Davis.

Pasha demanded the U.S. identify "all the Ray Davises working in Pakistan, behind our backs," the official said.

Since diplomatic passports apparently dont’ provide immunity for their bearers in Pakistan, as president, I would have arrested the Pakistani ambassador to the U.S. at dinner for unpaid parking tickets or some other pretext and waited for prisoner swap. We’re getting bullied like we’re a 3rd rate power.

“The practice, which comes from Islamic law, is common and legal in Pakistan, but criticized by human rights groups.”
Soooo....The United States of America is now subscribing to ISLAMIC LAW???
Used to be a time when covert operators were ‘disavowed’ and they took their chances in a rescue mission...but now, we PAY RANSOM???

Money has pretty much been the centerpiece of US-Pak relation. Pakistan has mastered the art of holding to ransom that which the US needs.
