A man is expected to survive after he was struck by a train on the Northeast Side early Monday, San Antonio police said.
The man, 22, was struck by a southbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe locomotive near Wetmore Road and Wurzbach Parkway around 5 a.m.
BNSF spokesman Joe Faust said the train's engineer and conductor saw the man lying on the tracks, apparently attempting suicide, near a bridge.
The crew blew the train's horn and activated its emergency brakes, officials said, but couldn't avoid striking the man.
Police Sgt. Donald Leonard said the man was then scooped up by the front of the train and carried for about 200 feet before being flung into an embankment just as the train stopped.

That’s nothing - a train once carried me from Philadelphia to Boston.
Lol
I went to High School with a guy that didn’t survive.
Heh, heh!
“What happened to you, Joe? Get hit by a train?”
“Worse. When I came home at 3:00 a.m., my wife was waiting for me. I don’t know what she hit me with, but it hurt.”
;^)
Should have held out for high speed rail...
Wouldn't that depend on which way he was facing? How could they tell? Did he have moss growing on one side of him?
Lucky? How the hell is this guy lucky?!
High school can be rough.
