Am asking some advise on the MOSSBERG SECURITY 12-GA. 8-SHOT SHORT BARREL PUMP SHOTGUN. I bought a Stoeger P350 a while back and now know that there is a problem with double feeds. Consequently I have no confidence in the gun if I should need it in an emergency.
Big 5 has these on sale for $289.99.....comments please??
Thanks ;)
No, it just costs more because of the name.
Notice that Mossberg is much more heavily into SP guns. For you, me, the Cops and the military.....
Proud owner for over 15 years. Never had a misfeed, misfire, or double feed. It has been about the most reliable 12 ga I’ve ever owned. Nothin’ fancy. Just good, workable hardware.
I outfitted mine with a Pachmyr Vindicator kit, and I’ve had it close by ever since...

I used to teach skeet at a Southern University. The school provided 3 model 870 Remingtons for those who didn’t have their own gun.
I once did some rough calculations and those guns probably had around 200,000 rounds each through them. One of the guns had developed a slight problem in that maybe once a week, it would allow a shell to come past the shell stop which jammed the gun.
Those guns were incredibly tough.
Welcome.
I lost both of my Ruger 10/22’s in a terrible turkey attack incident.
Problem 1:
Had the exact problem you are describing on my P-350, took it back where I bought it and they sent it back with a description of what the problem was. Got it back 10 weeks later, the detent ball was not allowing the barrel to be fully seated when the mag cap was screwed down, they replaced the ball and the gun has worked fine since then. be as detailed as you can, I even sent pictures of the jams along with the detailed description.
Passing along a gun that has a problem to an unsuspecting person is not the answer. I hope this helps.

Look for p350 guy, he has all the tricks. You will have to get an account to email him but he is a good guy and knows the gun inside and out.
Thank you, that is exactly what I'm looking for.
Now I'm getting excited!!
The 500 will shot 2 3/4” and 3” shells. It’s a good choice, and is a good value for the money. If you can swing it, get a 590A1. It’s the 4WD version of the 500.
The 930 spx is a nice model too, if you want a semi-auto 8 shot.
Check out the Mossberg 930 SPX.
Wow FRiend, thank you so much for the info!
I have to tell you though, I think I’ll go ahead and get the Mossberg and keep the Soeger as a second.
Once the confidence is lost, it’s hard to get back....
BTW, I have the Cougar 8000F too, sweet pistol.
I have one as well.. mine will fire the 3” no problem. I also have a Rem 870 which I love.. but it was more expesnive that that. That’s a decent deal.. I say go with it.
Okay, stop teasing me.....drooling ;)
Thanks eXe....I think you and I discussed this problem some time back?
I also have a Rem 870 that was passed down from my dad. Its probably 40 years old but hasnt seen shell in 20. Someday I’ll take it to a gun smith to have it checked out.
Mossburg 500 is a good value and reliable as Hell.
In addition to the Mossberg 500, if you find yourself in a situation with LOTS of ‘zombies’, I also recommend a Saiga12 with a 20 round drum. Those are also very reliable, as long as you are using higher powered shells.(from my experience anyway)
I’m sold....heeheee, I feel like a kid....is it tomorrow yet?
ab,
read your comment and was left wondering what a “shotgun cozy” is...?
Can you help me with that...
