Am asking some advise on the MOSSBERG SECURITY 12-GA. 8-SHOT SHORT BARREL PUMP SHOTGUN. I bought a Stoeger P350 a while back and now know that there is a problem with double feeds. Consequently I have no confidence in the gun if I should need it in an emergency.
Big 5 has these on sale for $289.99.....comments please??

Does this shotgun also fire 3" and 3 1/2" shell, magnum?

I bought Mr. Mossberg a number of years ago. Haven't had to use him in a game yet thank goodness but he does fine on the practice field.

I’ve had one for years, and it has NEVER failed me. Mine fires 3 inch shells.

It is about as good as any. They don’t have the solid feel of the Remington 870 but they work fine.

Sorry to hear the Stoeger tries to two fist shells.
Check the loading ramp and associated springs for tension or wear.
The Mossy seems ot be max of three inch.

The 3.5” Mossberg has always been the Ultimag not the 500.

Common problem with Stoeger’s - easy to fix. BTW I had a Mossberg 500 with exactly the same problem. If you are really looking M500’s can be had for under $250 around here at gun shows and that is brand new. You can also get 870’s for about $250 slightly used.

My 500 has about 30 years of life in the bottom of a canoe, soaking and freezing in duck blinds and rattling around in a pickup truck. It has never failed me once. It now has a black synthetic stock and forend and does guard duty here at home.
They aren't fancy but they're all gun!

Buy one. No, check that, buy two. Mossbergs are outstanding buys for the money. If you can find the model with the ghost ring sight system that’s the one you want.

I love mine. Simple design, incredibly rugged, does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It shoots up to 3” shells.

Never cared for Stoegers. Mossbergs aren’t Remingtons, but they don’t need to be. They’re solid and go bang, everytime. Just for less money. I belive that 3” is the limit on these. 3.5 would jump too much in a home defense situation....IMO.

Sorry to hear the Stoeger tries to two fist shells. Seems to be a common problem, as far as I can tell...no fix that I have found so far though.
Too bad, nice gun otherwise.

I used to have a 500A1 with parkerized, ghost ring sights. Carried 1 + 8 in the gun and 4 on the stock. Goes up to 3” but no 3 1/2.
Had it just about 11 years like other people around here. No misfeeds or other problems except I lost it in a terrible fishing accident.

Thanks for the info...
Is the Remington really that much better?
This is strictly for home defense.
