This year was actually a good year for movies, as I’ve written repeatedly. The King’s Speech was great; so was Toy Story 3; Inception may go down as one of the most creative films of all time. The Fighter was excellent as well.
Then there were the overrated films. Black Swan was atrociously awful, another Aronofsky masterpiece of self-aggrandizing bullcrap. The Kids Are All Right was a TV movie masquerading as a prestige film because it was about lesbians. True Grit was a remake.

I actually liked JFK because of the acting of: Gary Oldman, Joe Pesci, and John Candy. Joe Pesci’s character was incredibly over the top.
Also Oliver Stone wrote the screenplay to Scarface but Brain DePalma’s direction and Pacino’s way over the top acting made the film. Besides that I cannot stand Oliver Stone.
I thought No Country for Old Men was a decent enough movie, though depressing as hell.

But on the Other hand AVATAR is pretty Damn overrated too, Kevin Costner should have sued for Copyright infringement over Dances with Wolves
Put Tom Hanks on the screen, you forget its Tom Hanks. Appollo 13 and Forrest Gump were superb jobs of the actor disappearing and the character taking over.

Deer Hunter was good largely due to Christopher Walken who won best supporting actor. Streep was his love interest.
I used to like Celine Dion until she made that idiotic statement during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina....
She defended the looters who were taking TV’s and such, saying “Let them touch those things.” Small businessmen and small businesswomen were busting their butts trying to make a living, and this broad thought it was OK to steal their property and the fruits of their labor. I wonder if it would be OK with Celine if looters stormed her Las Vegas mansion and carted off HER property.
I think “Karate, Fist of Death” beats that one.

Happy to see this listed. Anyone who likes “The Departed” should see the original - one of the tightest, best acted and written films ever.

Blade Runner: Why only at the 20th spot? 30 year old pretentious crap like that should really be in the top 5.
Juno: Well, I kinda liked Juno. Yes, the main character is somewhat unlikeable - I thought that was the point?
Shakespeare in Love: Never seen it.
Little Miss Sunshine: Dark? What movie is he referring to?
The English Patient: Never seen it.
Giant: That was so long ago that I’ve completely forgotten it by now, I guess it didn’t make much of an impression.
American Graffiti: Never seen it.
The Matrix: I’m tired of people complaining about the silly philosophy behind the movie - who cares? The movie wasn’t meant to be deep (or conform to the Laws of Thermodynamics); so why gripe about it?
Annie Hall: Never seen it.
Lost in Translation: Not bad, although perhaps not quite up to it’s own hype.

That ship cost $165 million in today's dollars to build.
And then there was the Heart of the Ocean, that eventually followed the Titanic down and may have been worth about as much.

I like Jon Voight, but Robert D. should have won best actor that year hands down. One of the biggest travesties in Oscar history.
Where to begin ? However, this list ought to go decade by decade rather than cramming a lot of recent junk into it that will soon be forgotten. Lastly, he should be flogged for listing “Blade Runner” as overrated. That movie is in a class by itself for greatness. Want overrated ? Try a lot of the Oscar winners over the last 20+ years. I absolutely loathe “Lord Of The Rings.” I couldn’t get through 10 minutes of that nonsense. Baz Luhrmann’s “Moulin Rouge” may be the worst musical in history.
As for the other 19 selections:
“Juno” = Meh, watched it once, it was OK but nothing special.
“Shakespeare in Love” = I can’t stand Gwyneth Paltrow.
“Little Miss Sunshine” = Interesting premise, lackluster effort. Alan Arkin was far better in “The Slums of Beverly Hills”, which was a very underrated film.
“The English Patient” = Saw it once, don’t think I’d care to sit through it again. I’m not a big fan of Juliette Binoche.
“Giant” = I’ve seen it a few times. Yes, James Dean is quite good in his final role. Rock Hudson wasn’t so bad, either. It’s overlong, but I still consider it a classic and NOT overrated.
“American Graffiti” = Sorry, but this one is a classic, too. The only problem with it, as with so many films of its genre, the actors in it were too old for their parts.
“The Matrix” = Keanu Reeves plain gets on my nerves. I watched this once, nice special effects, but an unattractive and cold female lead and a lot of nonsensical psychobabble philosophizing. No wonder buffoons like that Hahvahd Prof Cornell West showed up in the trilogy. If that’s how liberals think, no wonder they’re as deranged as we believe them to be.
“Annie Hall” = Woody is a perv, but for some reason (perhaps my NYC DNA) I have a soft spot for many of his films. Ultimately, they’re probably all overrated, of course. I think “Radio Days” is one of his best, and is a real gem.
“Lost In Translation” = I haven’t formed a strong opinion of this one way or another. It did seem to be lacking something that would make it a standout and was a bit cold. I much more like Sofia Coppola’s other film, “The Virgin Suicides”, which may end up her best effort as a director.

They are too busy claiming that the war has already been lost to notice that American casualties are declining dramatically; they are too impatient for Iraq to become Vietnam to wait for the development of democracy in a part of the world that has never seen democracy before. The Democrats are too busy gleefully pointing at body bags and Abu Ghraib to care that they are undermining the morale of our troops.
Democrats cannot be trusted to handle the economy. Unemployment is down, the stock market is up, home ownership is rising rapidly. Democrats would reverse all of these trends in order to grow entitlement programs and, by doing so, buy more votes. They would raise taxes dramatically and cut defense spending.
Democrats cannot be trusted to tolerate the viewpoints of religious people. It is Democrats across the country who seek to legitimize homosexual marriage; it is Democrats across the country who seek to keep the legal abomination of Roe v. Wade on the books so that ordinary Americans cannot vote on abortion; it is Democrats across the country who want God out of the public schools and courthouses..’
