So,you win a $35,000.00 car, and if you’re in a 28% federal bracket and say, a 5% state income tax bracket, you get to pay those authorities more than $10,500.00, to say nothing of your insurance!
But then, I own a Mustang Cobra with 430 HP, so don’t pay any attention to me. A pony car beats a Prius any day!
I am buying one when I can.
Don’t they still have the tax deal where if you have an unusual windfall or something one year, you can average your income for a period of years to spread it out?
Suffice to say the winner gets a fine car and a 1099 for $34,999.
Fun car, though.
Nice! But the wheels are to “Euro” looking.
You think that is bad, there are rodeo events where they give away fully loaded 3/4 ton pickups...yikes!! $40,000- $50,000 value now. A local man won one and had to take out a loan to pay for taxes, title, etc. and that was a few years back. I also knew a lady that won a little economy car at a casino, she upgraded it with the dealer to a luxury model, then with the tax issues she was actually having a hard time getting everything paid. She just didn’t understand how it all worked until she was in a mess.
Of that I am not certain, but the IRS and your state tax authority is going to see it as income - and you’ve gotta come up with the do-re-mi.
Game show contestants have to sign forms concerning taxes and such before they compete.
Takes some of the fun out of it.
But the Mustang is still a beaut!
From what I understand that doesn’t apply to winnings...I think they want money up front for that type of income. I am not an accountant, but have known several that won things and it didn’t seem like it was an option to average. My brother once won a pile of money at the horse track and there was actually a tax man there to get paperwork and money done on the spot. They didn’t even bother to figure his income, just took large taxes out of his winnings. He actually got a small refund at the end of the year because they took too much. That was years ago and I don’t know if it is still done that way.
Good idea, if you can find one. And if you do, it may cost more than this one!
Vroom, vroom!
Now you are talking about something.
I think even the current model would be a blowout if it had an interior configuration similar to and with the length of a 280 2+. I haven’t looked (being a 6’4”, loaded Explorer guy) but I suspect the interior width is sufficient.
Me wants a new 5.0 in Grabber Blue. Hopefully it'll happen early 2012 :-)
Very like the grill changes.
Nice.
Those are the only stock wheels that make enough room for the Brembos.
(facepalm)
Oh well. Who needs brakes anyway?
The oil embargo Mustang.
Thank you Jimmy Carter.
