No, wait. You're that guy who posts on IMDB asking, Will James Bond Ever Die? right?

I’d cut spending across the world.

What I like about the flat tax idea is that everyone pays it...”under the table” money will be taxable. That means drug dealers, prostitutes, gamblers...etc. will be contributing to our tax base as well.

I agree with you 99.99999 percent. The only thing I don’t believe we will ever see is a Civil War. It would be too difficult. First the South would not want it as they were beaten badly the last time. The north would not want it as there is not an interest. If it was a Red vs. Blue state type, then some states that are purple would have to chose sides. It would be a big mess.

Not all civil wars are geographical. We're not going to have some kind of declared, neat conflict (if we were to have a conflict). Instead, it would be more like a gradually increasing conflict that just blew out of control. There is an enormous amount of pent-up bitterness, jealousy, and outright hatred on the left, that would provide a constant source of fuel.

No it won't.The problem is spending. 35% of “income” is in the form of some government program.

The liberals in a civil war? No. They don’t fight, they dictate. If they can’t get the ATF to do their dirty work for them, then they’ll yell and scream, but fight? No.

Perhaps the liberals should be reminded, that it’s the conservatives that have the guns.

"...The only thing I don’t believe we will ever see is a Civil War..."

FRiend, if you do not see the seeds of some kind of mass civil conflict in America, I invite you to visit

A) A university campus, to hear the overt leftist propaganda being forced upon our youth;

B) A diverse urban area, to witness the "gimme gimme" sense of entitlement that robs entire generations of their potential; and

C) A union mob, intent on destroying fundamental freedoms and protections that have in part assured our Nation's greatness.

The coming Civil Unrest will have nothing to do with North and South, except for the leftist/cosmopolitan vs country/conservative angle.

does not deal with the double taxation of business.

remember most business are small business. So you would be taxing the mom and pop business 10% and then 10% again because they have a business.

If this would ever be implemented, we should keep it small, say 5%, as the government will want increases every year just like the Post Office stamps. It’s a wonderful way to cut all the stupid programs that do nothing but interfer with our lives and perpetuate disgusting behavior.

What you have said, for me, reinforces the need for the flat tax. Clearly, gov. is TOO big. It would be traumatic to switch, but I don’t think our nation is going to be avoiding trauma anyway, so might as well do it right.

Flat tax cures a lot of ills. It also gets the gov. out of social issues. No marriage tax benefits...no need to define marriage. Nice...like that! Leave the defining of things to the states so people can get back to voting with their feet!

Instead, it would be more like a gradually increasing conflict that just blew out of control.

It will probably go like this:

- We run out of money. The entitlement recipients CANNOT be paid.

- Rodney King-style riots ensue in every major city.

- The unionized police back off and refuse to put themselves in harm's way. Some citizens take up arms in self defense.

- The government sends paramilitary Federal police units after those citizens who defend themselves but ignores the actions of the rioters.

- Those who are financially able - realizing a dictatorship is coming fast - flee the country.

- The middle class disappears as Bosnia-like factional fighting takes hold in large cities across the US. Roaming gangs of marauders make rural life equally risky.

- The Federal Government relocates to Colorado, where its members can hide in secure bunkers. Much of America simply ignores anything they have to say.

- Markets crash. The dollar crashes. Famines set in. Millions die of starvation or random murder.

- Refugees flood into Canada, threatening to spread the conflict northward. Mexicans return home in vast numbers.

- The US military, realizing its command structure is jeopardized, ignores panicked orders from the President to fire upon American citizens and begins to desert and disband. Pilots and ship captains head for allied nations like Australia or Britain to wait out the resolution of the power struggle.

- The Federal government splits into factions, with rival Presidents and Administrations battling it out for control of what little government remains. A few nuclear missiles are launched. All prove to be defective or fail to hit their targets.

- Life for the average American temporarily dips to an 1800s level. Those who cannot grow their own food will likely starve to death.

- After the final collapse of the Federal Government, Russia, China, and EU step in to stabilize the UN's new North American Protectorate. The standard of living for the surviving 150 million or so Americans returns to a somewhat normal level over the next five years, but since the US Constitution is widely and incorrectly blamed for causing the conflict, there will be no significant push to restore a Constitutional government.

I fear a scenario like this is now almost unavoidable. The Fakers and the Takers are either going to have to accept that they aren't getting any more free government money, or they will end up losing their lives one way or another in the chaos that follows.

NO business ever pays taxes. Not one single dime of tax has ever been collected form a business in this country.

Their customers (us) have been soaked for millions though.

To a business a tax is just another expense that is buried in the price of the product. Every tax on business is a hidden tax on the consumer.

The beauty of the flat tax (or the fair tax) is that it exposes all these hidden taxes

I think the outcome would be a little different this time around.

The South has all the guns, ammo and the people that know how to use said equipment. Plus, I’m sure there a lot of Northerners that would love to live in the South, but can’t leave because no one will but their houses. The North, with all their great laws, concerning gun control, has created a group that has no idea which end of the gun the bullet comes out of.

Flat Tax or Fair Tax....no one will be able to cheat it and you’ll be able to use those 66,000+ pages for kindling...

While chilling, your post may one day be seen as prophetic, if conservatives do not get tough and make the tough decisions and elbow the progressives out of the game.

Well hell....to be "fair" we should all make the same money every year.

Wealthy and established people already own most everything they want.

REALLY?? And you know this how?

You are right, and those that say the left won’t fight are wrong, they will be most vicious as life to a large segment of them is nothing but a virus ruining the planet and they are not lead by the Spirit of God, many are going to be suprised.

I believe the point being made...

Is that when we tax businesses..they just pass those costs to the consumer. Thus you get.."Corporations don't pay taxes."

I think sometimes though...you can tax business too much..to where they cannot pass those costs along.
