Sticky Situation (Part Two!): Wisc. Capitol Cleaning Crews Struggle to Remove Protest Banners, Stickers & Tape Posted on March 7, 2011 at 9:27pm by Meredith Jessup

As we reported over the weekend, the clean-up efforts at the Wisconsin State Capitol have begun following weeks of sit-in protests. New video posted to YouTube shows the tedious task Capitol maintenance workers have in carefully removing stickers and tape from the State Capitol’s delicate marble rotunda.

While workers struggle to clean up, the protesters’ signs, banners and papers taped to the walls have reportedly been cataloged and preserved by the Wisconsin Historical Society. According the Associated Press, they may end up at the Smithsonian:

The state Department of Administration says the signs will be evaluated for historical content by both the Smithsonian and the historical society.

There will also be a process for returning signs to people who want them back.

The state had said cleaning up the Capitol following the protests would cost $7.5 million, but then backed down from that number and said Friday it may only cost $350,000.

They should send the cleaning bill to the AFLCIO.

They should but they won't.

The state Department of Administration says the signs will be evaluated for historical hysterical content by both the Smithsonian and the historical society.

Fixed a typo in the sentence.

Good God, they are SAVING the signs for the museums?

They should go into dumpsters with all the other trash. And the unions should be given the cleanup bill.

Post of the day. Watch the video of the guy filming the cleaning and the Maintainence boss, what a Richard-Cranium he was. The poor guy cleaning needs a hair dryer to get the glue to unstick, what he couldn't think that one through? Egads, what a mess, and I don't mean the building.

Goo Gone works great.
Flood the place with it.

Goo Gone works great.

For some kinds of adhesives, it does. Others are better removed with rubbing alcohol. Hair spray will remove some inks, and clear shoe polish can remove scuffs.

They need Heloise on their clean up team. Or a chemist.

Those items are collector’s items. Garbage collectors.

Goo Gone can stain porous materials. Not a good choice for stone.

I hope they're also dusting for fingerprints so they know where to send the bill.

The reason that guy is so hostile to the filmmaker is that he belongs to a Union in Madison.

Given the videos showing dirty hippies beating drums in the capitol building, I expect there were more than a few cases of human waste found in the corners.

“The state Department of Administration says the signs will be evaluated for historical content by both the Smithsonian and the historical society.”

####

Tea Party signage is of much more REAL historical value, than the ignorant, self-serving rantings of a bunch of pampered government parasites.

However, not to agenda-driven, talentless, government-dole Commies on the “State Department of Administration”.
