Ok, so I have this niece who I love but, would love to strangle right now. We've been doing the usual back and forth about WI. I posted about what pigs these people were and she posted back that she went to a tea party, there were guns, racist signs, they left the place a mess. I don't know if she really was there or not. I've never heard that any tea party has left a place a big mess. I asked her for proof, that was just a bit ago, so no response yet. I know that there are nuts and mean evil people on both sides. What I see is a disproportionate number of those people on the left. You have an occasional one on the right but, it's the norm on the left.

Thank you!!! Most people tell me to give up. I can’t, she’s blood and no matter how irritating she is, I love her. And I figure one day something will click. And besides, I pray ;) that always works. I think there are two classes of people on the left. Those that are truly evil and those that are useful idiots. I think my niece falls into the latter category.

Right now, what your niece is doing, if she plans to respond at all, is sending little emails to all of her leftist buddies saying "Hey, I need pictures of racist Tea Party signs and the mess they left, etc. etc." If you get a response, it will be some complete horse****, like a photoshopped image or an image from a non-Tea Party event that is labeled as a Tea Party event. If you don't get an answer, it is because she could not find anything at all to back up her statement. It's up to you whether you want to press her on it, but I wouldn't bother. If she would lie to you about being at a racist Tea Party event, then she's a true believer and she'll lie about anything.

What you have to realize is that these lefties do not care about any kind of objective reality. If there is a claim that they can make that will allow them to hold onto their leftist worldview despite evidence to the contrary, they will make it, with or without proof, and they will believe it fully. For example, when the Tea Party arose in response to Obama and the Congressional Democrats' agenda, it would have completely destroyed the notion that Obama was some kind of genius messiah, loved by all. This would have left leftists in a state of self-doubt, which they cannot abide. So, all they had to do was come up with a way to dismiss the entire Tea Party movement in one fell swoop. Racism is the most popular way to do this, so they said "The Tea Party is racist" without one bit of evidence to show that and plenty of evidence to show the contrary. However, that lie allows them to keep believing their fantasies about Obama and leftism in general, and therefore they believe the racism charge is true without needing one shred of evidence. You cannot debate with that kind of brainwashed thinking. Trust me.

People on the left have a simple moral/ethical code: "Whatever I can get away with"

How can we expect anyone who is totally divorced from daily reality )and when faced with negative consequences never fails to blame someone else) to have a sense of ethics. I was having a discussion with a friend about the "so called" spitting at the capitol (when Pelosi and Black Caucus walked throught the protesters) and she swore she saw it and it was reported on the news. I told her that with cell phone cameras and the media being there and still no one saw it, she still believes it happened.

She also said , like your niece,that she's been to tea parties and they had awful signs etc etc. etc. They just refuse to face reality.....I don't get it

I've stopped discussing things with my the batties surrounding me, too. Although, something kind of funny happened today...

I work with a bunch of leftys. Today a group of us went to lunch at an Italian restaurant. Two of the other three are vegetarians. The restaurant was not serving eggplant because of the exorbitant price of eggplant coming from Mexico. There was a huge outcry at the table when the waiter explained this to them. The waiter then said that they have had to increase the prices of salads because of the lettuce shortage and then he said something about tomatoes, but I didn't catch it. (Can you imagine not being able to get tomatoes at an Italian restaurant? Horrors!)

Anyway, one of them turned to me and said, "Oh my God, you said this was going to happen about two months ago! I remember you telling me!"

I just smiled and shrugged. I was busy purchasing some silver Eagles through my smartphone.

She’s almost 34 years old. School was a long time ago. She didn’t even finish college, she was there a year.

For the most part we don’t either. The problem is I will post something on my FB and she sometimes responds to it. Then I’ll have friends that will respond to her ect..

You are absolutely correct to counter her leftist demagoguery. She needs to understand that someone she knows and has a personal relationship with is on the opposite side of the political spectrum.
Never get flustered. Be gentle, reasonable and hard nosed with her. Make sure she understands that you honestly believe she is being a dunderhead.

Thank you, that’s what I’m trying to do. I usually don’t have a problem being patient with her, but, at times....grrrrrrr. Luckily she’s in SC and I’m in MI, we talk on fb. So she doesn’t see the hair pulling...lol
