Cats need time to process an idea. Dogs, being more social, respond instantly to commands and suggestions. A cat, if invited to do something fun (sit on a lap), will often wait a few seconds to think, and then take you up on it. That’s my conclusion.

My cats speak fluent Felinese with an alley-cat accent, except Miss Hissy Slashy. She speaks Feralese.

She’s doing great though. I can pet her for two or three minutes before she bites me, and she doesn’t even draw blood anymore, the softy.

We have a feral cat which come to our back door, stands motionless, and simply stares in through the glass as if waiting, sometimes for hours. If we open the door, it will run away. We put a bowl of food out for it, and it eats, but the staring does not seem connected to food, as sometime it happens after the car has eaten, and sometimes before. Do any of you cat people have a clue as to what is going on? We don't.

My cat was in bed with me last week. He was purring, and I was petting him. Suddenly he sunk his teeth into my hand until I bled, and he hung on. I screeched, and he took off...

Since then I've been closing the bedroom door and keeping him away from the grandkids. What do you think of that behavior? He also has been known to unexpectedly claw at ankles when someone walks by at NIGHT.

We've had him since he was a kitten, and he's now 11. My brother won't help me with my cat when I go out of town. He says he's nasty. You can see his pic if you click on my name.
