I think Trump is cool. But that’s just me. Beyond that though, he isn’t going to go the whole mile.

So does anyone have the “long list”?

Serious folks. I agree with Laura. This thing has to start early, and we need to encourage a little courage here to all the candidates to please step forward.

Yes, I have grown to like him better as well, however, he is too squishy on the Moochelle..and her eating edicts.

T Paw..or Pawlenty has some good ads out.

We will just have to wait and see who the NYT endorses for us.

Well, if there isn’t a “long list”, then this has me worried. It needs to start now.

By the way, forget this thread, I want to pray for Jim instead.

very funny - NYT.

Well is Sarah bows out, I will go with who she recommends. But I am really confused right now. I mean, by now I would have thought there would be a long list of for sures.

Personally, and this is my (ever unpopular) opinion alone, I would focus on retaking the Senate, which given the amount of Dem retirements is looking achievable. The presidency, to my mind, is a very steep climb given the candidates we have. Yes, most everyone on here seems to think that a ham sandwich can defeat Obama and that Palin will be our next president...many are the same people who lectured me on the inestimable force of a Fred Thompson campaign or told me to ignore the polls, that McCain would pull it out. The truth is we haven't any great candidates. They're all second tier, and with considerable drawbacks. 2016 will be a year in which we have a maturing crop, i.e., many of which are now making names for themselves as effective governors, but in the meantime we enter 2012 with blind rage against Obama and not much else. Maybe that will be enough to carry one of these candidates over the top, but I have my doubts.

The sooner someone announces, the longer the MSM has to destroy any potential foundation they might build

Romney - yes

Palin - yes (don’t buy into these people who are ignorant on how she do things)

Pawlenty - yes

Gingrich - yes

Hermain Cain - yes

Barbour - yes

Mitch Daniels - maybe

Rick Santorium - maybe

John Huntsman - maybe

Trump - maybe. ( perhaps joking around for the fun of it)

Huckabee - most likely not

Guiliani - most likely not (seems to be a stalking horse for somebody if he did run)

Bolton - most likely not

Ron Paul - most likely not

Michele Bachmann - most likely not (she said that she’s just setting the table for the 2012 election)

Thune - No

Pence - No

Christie - No (a thousand times he said no)

If Ingram did not use her program to pee on the last fairly conservative president we had a mere 2 years ago, perhaps more people would be willing to step forward now. Given how much of the GOP chattering class stood behind G.W. Bush, I can not blame people for not rushing to seek the GOP nomination. Since both the GOP establishment and much of the chattering class will bow to the DC group think and bail on you at a moments notice, I can understand why some people have second thoughts.

I disagree that they need to start publicly campaigning right now. Too early is a disadvantage, so is too late. Timing is everything.

I LIKE some of these people a lot, but several have never been in elected office. And some have JUST been elected, so the field narrows tremendously.

The danger is that if Obama is re-elected, he knows he won’t face the voters again, so he’ll be even MORE radical and destructive. We have to take the WH more than the Senate.

He is my choice right now, but things can change.

By the way, here’s one thing we can count on: They ALL want to be president. The fact that they are not running yet is not an indication that they are not interested. Even Christie, who has been the most reluctant. If he thought he could win and that he would be good for America, he would run, without a doubt.
