BYU Basketball: Brandon Davies Dismissed from BYU for Having Kid on the Way
The Bleacher report ^ | 2 March 2011 | Mick Akers

Posted on 03/02/2011 1:02:29 PM PST by T Minus Four

Ethan Miller/Getty Images It was reported yesterday that BYU starting center Brandon Davies was let go from the team for the remainder of the season for violating Brigham Young's honor code.

Today, 1280 The Zone in Salt Lake City is reporting that Davies' girlfriend is pregnant with his child. The honor code does not allow sexual relationships unless you are married, among a hefty list of other rules.

Davies is averaging 11.1 points per game and a team-high 6.2 rebounds, and not having him available for the NCAA tournament will be a major issue for Mr. Fredette and the Cougars.

If and when they meet up with a big-six conference powerhouse, they will need everything they have down low to bang against the other teams' centers.

BYU's backup centers have not played many meaningful minutes this season and expecting them to do so this late into the season is asking a little too much.

Their sophomore forward, Stephen Rogers, is averaging 4.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in an average of 10 minutes per game. The Cougars' freshman 6'10'' forward/center James Anderson is averaging one point and one-and-a-half rebounds per game in seven minutes of action.

A plan to go with a smaller lineup and to speed their game up more than usual is what BYU is planning on doing with the Davies absence, according to unnamed sources.

Getting away with not having your starting center might fly against the lower seeds, but this all but guarantees they are not going to be able to make a run as deep as many experts have been predicting.

This will also affect their potential seeding in the big dance. As of now they are a projected No. 1 seed, but without one of their key players, the Cougars may fall as low as a No. 3 seed, making the road to the Final Four that much more difficult

Post the link; hating individuals because they are duped is absurd in the main. It's like hating a homosexual because they're a homosexual. Absurd. OTOH, if that Homosexual gets in my face and insists I accept his/her degeneracy as just as valid a lifestyle, well, that little idiot will get the treatment he/she deserves ... but I still will not hate them for being deceived.

Now, answer one for me: do you believe Mormonism is Christianity? And I ask that specifically that way to try and avoid dissembling, which is a common trait of LDS apologists who post regularly at FR. If Mormonism is not Christianity, is it kindness to know a person caught in the deceits of Mormonism needs salvation yet turn aside from challenging them so comity can reign and they can go to hell 'on their own recognizance'?

I really don’t care what they call themselves. If the Mormons want to call themselves Christian, I don’t care. Why do you care?

I care for their eternal destiny because Jesus commanded His Bride to be thus engaged with our fellow humans ... we are commanded to carry the Gospel to our fellow huamns and oppose deception come int he name of a false jesus.

Having done intense study of Mormonism for several years now, I know Mormonism is not Christianity, though the LDS church claims to be 'restored christianity'. If you have no regard for the spirit/soul of others, so be it, but don't expect real Christians with a knowledge of Mormonism to shut up in the name of ecumenism or comity.

You haven't posted the link yet. Are you going to, or just leave your accusation dangling on your word only?

So, are you going to post a link to the comment you so gleefully posted to affirm someone’s ‘hatred for Mormons’ ... the people not the ISM?

An accusation dangling on your word only. LOL

All you had to do is search and you could have found it. Here it is:

I will mock, insult, ridicule, and point out every flaw in that institution built upon lies, and the idiots or hypocrites that follow it. I will never feel one bit of shame for hating, yes hating mormons and their blasphemous insistence on referring to their cult built on gold plated horse$#!+ as being “christian”.

For MHG, forget the Bill of Rights, if your religion is wrong.

I see you sling insults without pinging the person you’re trying to insult. You must be a Mormon ...

And being such a 'stoopid' (a Boortzian word) remark from you, you might try explaining what you were trying to assert ... try including how your inane inclusion of the Bill of Rights relates to me as a Christian seeking to expose the heresies in Mormonism so duped people can avoid the destruction they face without Christ.

You just keep trying, little one, you may someday reach cogency. I'm pinging a few who I just know will get a kick out of your display.

Jesus said “Judge not, lest ye be judged”. I think that’s what the the First Amendment is derived from.

Read the sentence from Jesus in the context He spoke it. Your effort is looking more and more like the liberal apologists for sinkEmperor clintton when he was exposed over Lewinsky and Jones adultery. But keep grasping at those straws, you might find one that hold your ‘wait’.

Public school education???? Jesus also said make righteous judgements. We are also told to identify false teachers and false teachings - implicitly implies a function of judgement involved.

They claim to be Christian but say the most un-Christian things about Mormons.

Surely you have confused the things MORMONs have said about CHRISTIANITY.

You are grasping for straws. and appearing foolish, to try brand Mormonism as a perverted polygamist cult.

Tell us one more time:

Jesus said “Judge not, lest ye be judged”.

I guess Joe Smith didn't get the memo.

I know your brand of Christianity. Your type also have issues with Catholics, Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism, Unitarians, etc.

I believe the gates of heaven will welcome them before it does you.

It appears that you do NOT believe Jesus; when He said, "I am the Way..."

You poor thing, you appear to not understand what it means to be a Christian. But you can upgrade your understanding by reading the first five chapters of the New Testament Pauline letter to the Romans.

Do you believe Jesus said 'I AM The Way, The Truth, and The Light. No man comes unto the Father but by me.' Take that proclamation by Jesus and apply it as you read Romans. When you finish the fifth chpater of Romans, read the entire Gospel of John, and meet The Lord from Heaven, the ONLY means to salvation from the nature you inherited from Adam. Oh! ... and have a nice week.
