After 25 years of success with The Oprah Winfrey Show, she put her hard-earned reputation on the line with the launch of her own dedicated TV channel. And it may not have been such a good idea, if new figures are anything to go by. The Oprah Winfrey Channel, OWN,  is apparently struggling to pull in the viewers.

Maybe Orca can chastise us all for being stupid and not supporting Obozo. That always worked before.

Another reason is that for the first time in 30 years, people are dumping cable and satellite in droves.

Oprah doesn’t work for someone else, she owns HARPO and is one of the wealthiest women on Earth

This was MY first thought.
She’s seen as the sissy-boy’s big supporter.
She’s toast, I hope.
But, some other dim-wit will take her place and indoctrinate the sheeple through the boob-tube.

So many sheeple....

GOOD NEWS!!! I was disappointed that DirecTV chose to drop Discovery Health for O’s Ho’s network...

Maybe I can get Discovery Health back (and I actually rarely turned that network on... but still prefer it to the New-Age, Satan’s preacher known as Oprah.

She may be one of the wealthiest women on earth but it would seem she might have miscalculated something if OWN actually is falling short.

REALLY??? Do you have stats of that? Because everything I've seen says the opposite. DISH Network subscribtions are down, but Direct TV's are up. Don't have cables numbers, but most people who leave cable go to sat. tv.

OWN replaced Discovery Health. Direct TV didn’t drop DH for OWN, DH became OWN.

The good news is that by dragging this out as long as possible it drains some of Oprah’s (vast) resources.

I used to watch her quite regularly, even though I didn’t agree with her liberal, new-age philosophy. I used to like the topics she had on regularly: makeovers and stuff like that. However, when she refused to have Sarah Palin on her show during the campaign, I immediately stopped watching her. The only time I’ve watched her since was when Sarah appeared on the show after the election.

Nearly 800,000 U.S. TV households 'cut the cord,' report says

Make no mistake: The big cable, satellite, and telco carriers are still sitting pretty with more than 100 million TV subscribers. Nevertheless, a new report claims that more and more viewers are "cutting the cord" in favor of watching their favorite shows via over-the-air antennas (remember those?), Netflix, or the Web.

TechCrunch has the scoop on a new report from the Toronto-based Convergence Consulting Group, and though the figures may not be a "serious threat" to the big cable and satellite carriers yet, the trend might eventually spell trouble for the like of Cablevision, Comcast, DirecTV, and Time Warner Cable.

To wit: Nearly 800,000 households in the U.S. have "cut the cord," dumping their cable, satellite, or telco TV providers (such as AT&T U-verse or Verizon FiOS) and turning instead to Web-based videos (like Hulu), downloadable shows (iTunes), by-mail subscription services (Netflix), or even good ol' over-the-air antennas for their favorite shows, according to the report.

Now, as TechCrunch points out, the estimated 800,000 cord cutters represent less than 1 percent of the 100 million U.S. households (give or take) currently subscribing to a cable/satellite/telco TV carrier, so it's not like we're talking a mass exodus here. But by the end of 2011, the report guesstimates, the number of cord-cutting households in the U.S. will double to about 1.6 million, and if the trend continues, well...

Cutting the Cord
