I think we’re done here.

The Oscars feature pretty girls in strange costumes. Just turn off the sound and watch.

Academy Awards are an event where the self-important get together, telling the world how important they all are.
Mrs. OLA and I will keep up our perfect streak of never watching this AA dope fest.

Hmmm... I went to the movies once in 2010. Don’t remember what I saw, the movie was that good.
I have never watched the Oscars.
I don’t have a clue as to today’s top movie stars.
My favorite movie is “The Best Years of Our Lives” which, I think, won an Oscar or two.
Deservedly.
Yeah, count me as one of “The Oscars Suck” crowd.

I cant really say I hate the Oscar's as much as I just don't give a rats a$$ about them. If not for this thread I would not know it was tonight... thought it was last week and somebody called Gaga arrived in a big plastic turd.

Haven`t watched the Oscars for decades. It`s a pointless, extravagant display of self-congratulation and mindless, rambling political grandstanding.
Hollywood and its celebrities mean nothing to me. They aren`t worthy of my time.

If this thread does not get more posts than the live thread for whose who, for some strange reason, like the Oscars, then
SHAME ON FREE REPUBLIC!
great idea, btw :)

Well Dolly, if most FReepers watched as many movies in 2010 as I did, there would not be much activity on either thread. I watched zero movies in the past 15 or 20 years.

The OSCARS are primarily a Cotillion, a coming out party, a Welcome to the Big Time suaree all in one, broadcast to all for their own glorification.

I haven’t watched those in decades.
When too many of the speakers were allowed to spew hate and vile filth, they became unwatchable.

Just another self-congraulatory elitist “aren’t we just fabulous” waste of time.
Seems like they happen every other week throughout the year.

Still, what a great idea for a thread. I'll have to watch this one.

We just turned off the TV because they wouldn’t stop with all this oscars crap on F’n’F this morning. I remarked to my wife that I’ve hated everything to do with hollywood, actors, and all the surrounding garbage since I was a little boy (about 5 decades ago!). I think it just shows more evidence of our societal rot when a big part of the nation is cackling and fawning over what some of these freaks are going to be wearing.

This coterie of babbling, self-important know-nothings and their childish, self indulgent, pathetic perversions isn’t important enough for me to give it any more attention than I have already in this post.
To: DollyCali
You are also requested to avoid, not post, don't even look for the Official Oscar thread which will be full of posters who LIKE the above items, have seen many if not all of the movies, and wish discussion w/o harassment, name calling, put downs. Dammit. There's always a catch.
Okay. I'm in.
Anybody who watches The Oscars is an idiot!

Oh....is it Oscar time again?
I never know until I see something on FR or on the Yahoo! front page. I don't even know what movies are up for it.
May we discuss socks on this thread?
