A Texas elementary school teacher was put on administrative leave earlier this week after being arrested for assaulting an elderly couple at an Arlington, Texas, shopping mall.
The alleged assault happened Feb. 19 (a Saturday) at The Parks at Arlington mall as Brenda Jones Stafford, a fifth-grade teacher, escorted several of her A.M. Pate Elementary students out on a school field trip.
An elderly couple — Carlton Morgan, 73, and his wife Bette Davis Morgan, 71 — were having coffee at the mall’s food court when Stafford approached them and tried to grab a chair Ms. Davis had her leg propped up on. Stafford claims she needed the chair for one of her students to use. But when Davis refused to let go of the chair, Stafford spit on Ms. Davis, pushed her and even tried to choke her. When Ms. Davis’ husband stepped in to try and stop the fight, Stafford pushed him down, hit him and tried to choke him as well.
Stafford’s students yelled at her, encouraging her to stop attacking Mr. Davis and managed to pull her off him. Stafford and her group left the scene but she was arrested shortly thereafter when police located her in a different area of the mall. She now faces felony assault charges and school officials have placed her on administrative leave while the case is investigated.

I remember taking a field trip 40 years ago to the state police forensic lab. The technician showed us a S&W revolver and then shot it into a barrel of fabric to get the slug. He then put it on a comparator and showed us how the rifling matched a bullet fired earlier from the gun. That was the coolest field trip ever.
I knew all that as I was reading the story. Just had to have it verified with pictures. What part of, these people are nuts, do we not get?
I despise the media, too, but the Fort Worth paper had an article on this and Google news has some more. New detail: the animal spit on the elderly lady.

Marty this is Texas, right to work, union hating, conservative Texas. She will be fired in less that 30 days if not sooner. The only reason for a teachers association here in the Lone Star State, is the credit union and magazine.

This is not her first time for being charged with violent assault. Previously, she sounds like she used a weapon as well.

But we didn't have school on Saturday either.
They weren't denied entry. The staff shut the party down earlier than was scheduled, because (according to the local news here in Boston) the guest were overwhelmingly AA. The restaurant has since apologized, with a written apology to be posted (online. I think) for thirty days, and donated a sizable sum to AA scholarships.
Well at least she is not sleeping with her students.
