Yes. Democrats. They voted for Obama but they are regretting it now over Obamacare, illegal immigration and a lot more. They are very set in their ways.
For those of us who don’t follow every “latest fad,” this is not really news. I have eaten a high carb diet for years, and when I don’t, it’s kind of amazing how quickly I can gain weight. A really good book on how this works is “Why we get fat and what to do about it,” by Gary Taubes. It cites a lot of good research, and comes to some of the same conclusions low-carb diet authors have reached for years. (But note, this isn’t really a diet book per se, just has some good explanations for why eating less carbs as a habit will keep people slim.)

A substitute for chicken meat is rabbit meat, perhaps you can have some ‘pet’ rabbits. Easy to reproduce, heavens knows. Never ate one myself (or Guinea Pigs, like the Peruvians do) I have Bambi problems.
Supposedly marathon runners pig out on Pasta the day before they run, to keep up energy levels while running over 20 miles.
My uncle started to drink beer to the point that he gave up eating all together. Several years later he died and weighted about 90 pounds.

I’ve done STP twice. Great ride. I have gone from 315 down to 245. Trying to get to 210 or so. Lots of protein, few carbs.
This is hardly news.
Natural health people have been saying this for decades, but noooooo, the medical community and FDA knew better and revised the food pyramid to include MORE carbs.
My son was diagnosed with Celiac disease two years ago...as an adult. Remarkable the change in him after he went gluten free. Skin coloring improved dramatically..he was always on the pale side...not any more. He has said he has never felt so strong and healthy in his life since dropping gluten. Keep in mind he ended up close to a month in the hospital trying to treat this...apparently those villas had been pretty burned down and out in him. We actually were afraid we’d loose him. It was a terrible ordeal for him....anything he ate went thru him almost in minutes!
Due to food allergies and intolerances, I’ve had to give up almost all plant matter but oats.
When I cut wheat out of my diet, my weight dropped effortlessly and my cholesterol dropped like a rock. No more nagging from my PCP about statins now.
My BP and sugar are fine as well and I don’t feel like sleeping after lunch every day any more. Carbs would work on me like Benadryl. Knock me out completely.

You are correct. Avoid grains. Eggs are very good for you...expecially the yolk. Any beef is better for you than most poultry. Avoid all vegetable oils...corn, soy, canola etc...these are bad for all of us. Use coconut oil for cooking...olive oil is ok for salads but do not cook with it. All soy is poison to your system. Dary is great if you can find unpasturized dairy...Real Milk...
Green stuff is always good for you. Leafy green is better than iceburg.
And so on...but remember, low fat, low protein, high carbs is what makes us fat, diabetic, cancer carriers.
So many people do not understand or grasp the huge price that is paid for many of these carbs--whether it be allergies, intolerances, health, or just plain negative reactions. Ever since I was a little girl the carb wiped me out. I was 21 when I realized the problem and how (as you mentioned) it was like Benadryl. I am a completely different person when I have lots of carbs and sugars in my system. You have inspired me even more to stick close to what works for me. Thank you for your post!

That pyramid has crated most of the type 2 diabetics. Thanks feds.

Yeah, unless you have selective IGA deficiency. (which would be about 1 out of every 600 of us - or half a million US citizens) In which case, you can't deal with plant lectins and plants become poison to you.
As far as fruits and veggies being necessary... Well, our malnutrition was reversed once we *stopped* eating vegetation. Turns out that we do quite well once the gut inflammation calms down. I wasted nearly 2 decades of my life trying to "eat healthy". I ate tons of veggies, steamed and juiced, and got sicker and sicker. I never felt well even on Atkins because of all the damn vegetation.
There is no ideal diet for every human. But I do agree that the food pyramid has caused massive damage to our population and we eat way too many carbs.
Last year about this time I reduced carbs severely. I began eating eggs, cheese, butter, bacon.
I gained control of my blood sugar. I began to sleep through the night, the heart burn all but ended. I exercised a good bit, a return to normal. I began to feel better.
This followed a diabetes drug trial in which I closely monitored a number of activities and was to maintain my “normal” diet. I began to lose weight and that continued with the change of diet.
I feel certain that a tipping point came when my WII announced I was no longer obese, merely over weight.
I recently learned on FRee Republic how to bake Artisan Bread. I really like the stuff. I’m going to bake with non refined flour when the current bag is used up. It will be interesting to see if eating bread and (real) butter or cheese for lunch adversely effects things.

I don't deserve any credit for that. It wasn't a matter of choice. It's not worth the consequences eating anything else.
My decisions when I do are *How much anti-histamine to take?* and *Call 911, go to the doctor, or tough it out and see if the reaction passes as usual and hope that if I try to tough it out, I don't pass out and end up dead from the decision*.
You can't do anything about a runaway allergic reaction when you're not conscious.
