Teachers take students out of school to protest
Remember the good ole’ days when your teachers would pull you out of school in order to protest with the unions? Whatever happened to well informed “to stop whatever it is this dude is doing” student activism? Don’t worry, it’s alive and well in Wisconsin where teachers are bringing their students along to protest against the governor’s anti-union stance. The kids may not know what’s going on, but at least they get to skip class. Glenn gave his reaction to this kind of education on radio this morning.
MSNBC Host tells Congressman where he should sleep!
MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell seems to think that members of Congress should be required to have two homes. During an interview with Utah’s Rep. Jason Chaffetz, O’Donnell called the Republican Congressman a criminal for sleeping in his office when he works in DC and not reporting his congressional quarters on his taxes. How many times has O’Donnell gone after Democrats? Glenn gave his reaction on radio this morning.

Re Wisoncin’s ‘impoverished’ teachers benes:
“An interested reader alerted us to information from the Wisconsin Association of School Board’s web site reporting on the amount that individual school districts in the state pay annually for their teachers’ health insurance.
WASB’s report, based on information reported by individual school districts, goes back to the 2002-’03 school year and includes the monthly amounts paid for family and single plans, the percent of that amount paid by teachers and the remaining dollar amount borne by the school districts. It also shows the highest and the lowest amounts paid by districts and the averages.
With many school district contracts still not settled, only 109 of the state’s 425 school districts have reported their health insurance data from settled contracts. But, thus far, the highest annual amount that a district is paying for a family plan is $27,777.60, while the lowest is $12,185.28. The average reported annual cost to districts so far is $20,752.80 for a family plan.
That compares to $16,223.52 for the highest plan in the 2002-’03 school year, $7,163.04 for the lowest-costing plan and $12,347.16 for the average.
On average, the districts cover 97% (single plan) and 96% (family plan) of the costs of the health insurance that their teachers are receiving this school year.”
