I can think of so many literary examples to encourage you in reclaiming your garden. The Secret Garden (of course) but also An Episode of Sparrows by Rumer Godden. Have you read these?

Be careful with that poision ivy! Our daffodils are up but no buds yet.... if this warm weather stays it won’t be long...

I’m sure your azaleas will thank you when you remove the vines. Gardening is good for the soul (IMHO)

It is very good for the soul. After all, God created the first garden and that is where He set man. When the fall occurred, He kicked us out but it would not surprise me if heaven was a beautiful garden. With a really big house.

A friend has put me on to Tecnu which is a homeopathic wash. It really does stop urushiol in about 15 seconds.

I've read The Secret Garden, but I don't believe I've read the Godden book. I have two of her books that I read as a child. They're here somewhere. I'll have to hunt them up.
