8 artists, versus two soloists. Stacked and meaningless comparison.

It probably helps that they do cover songs of past Top 100 hits.

I don’t know about anyone else, but when I see the cast pictures on the ads (as you showed), I don’t see “Glee”, I see “Gee what a Loser I am!”
But that’s just me.

I’ve watched bits and pieces of Glee a few times. The musical numbers aren’t bad, but the bits in between them are intolerable.

The Hot 100 doesn’t mean what it used to, due to the fragmentation of the record industry. You can make the top 20 in classical by selling a few HUNDRED copies.
You may as well say some current station is the #1 rated rock ‘n’ roll AM station of all time, because it leads its competitors by so much.
When I was a kid, besides pop/country and soul, there was classical and “oldies” formats. Now, there are oldies for EACH of the genres (except classical), and the category is subdivided into WWII era, non-rock 50’s and 60’s (Patti Page, Frank Sinatra), pre-Beatles Rock, Beatles-era pop, classic album rock (late 60’s to early ‘70s) and 80’s oldies, plus various flavors of adult contemporaries in addition to the modern rap, hip-hop genres. Some of these sub-genres outsell 90% of what is new.
In an era when the buyable single doesn’t really exist, the ratings system will be skewed.
I am not a huge Beatles fan, but one week early in their run, they had all five of the top five. Now THAT is an impressive record. Its right up there with Tris Speaker’s seven unassisted double plays by a center fielder, the product of an era that can never return.

I say BS on this. That stuff is Crap.
I may be getting old but I will swear that 60’s and 70’s music was the best.
Had lyrics and a melody you could remember and sing.
By the way since that is some collective ensemble crap on TV I say that doesn't count, exception “The Monkees”.

“Glee” is science fiction. I mean really, a school that still has a music program.......yeah, right.

This just demonstrates how dead the pop scene is.
I like the fact that all these people are putting the "L" for loser on their foreheads. I'm sure it probably means something different on the show, but that's what it means to my generation.

Yeah, and I got a song that is still rated in the top 50 on SoundClick two years down the line. How big is the universe these days? SoundClick ain’t Billboard and Billboard ain’t what it was. Lies and statistics...
