NO!!!!!! he has a very mild form of depression if he even has it. NO MEDS, James -- they are horrible. Only if you feel you are tempted to end it all should you go to a pill-pushing MD. If you just need someone to help you do things to make your life more meaningful, you should choose a BEHAVIORAL PSYCHOLOGIST who will help you in small ways to get you off the couch and out there into life a bit more, with no ghastly side effects of SSRIs. And believe me, if you walk into a MD, a psychiatrist's office, he will be the hammer and you will look like a nail, and he will put you on meds you do NOT need. Start with upping your nutrition as in my previous post. It will be better for you and faster working than SSRI meds. I believe you will be fine with mild adjustments in diet and lifestyle.
Are you by any chance a Scientologist? Your response to James is hysterical and based on a bunch of misinformation. I know alot about this. James might - if he wants to, of course - pick a sympathetic psychiatrist (not a general practitioner) and talk to him about medications; he should also engage in therapy. Many of these drugs have no side effects and can greatly elevate one’s mood. It must be carefully monitored.
But it is James’ decision, not yours or mine.
Hi Yaelle, my friend was recently prescribed an SSRI, can you inform me of some of those side effects you mentioned?
Thanks!
I couldn’t respond yesterday, but you have my prayers going out. I’ve been through depression before, when I was very young and in school of all times. It feels like it will never get better. I promise you that it does.I wish I could explain to you and prove that it does, just hang in there. Work on self improvement, maybe it will lead you onto other positive projects. Donate time at a church or something like that. This will work itself out, just have faith!
