No one knows for sure. I think they know when they've done well and perhaps that's doesn't necessarily mean they know precisely the consequence.
Dog show judges run the gamut from incompetent to superb. I found that in general that the best dogs did well which means that in general the judging was fair.

Where can you find German Shepherds that are bred for their original working ability?

The “Australian” Shepherd is an American breed. The Australian Cattle dog is from Australia.

Several of the toy dogs were bred out of larger versions of their breed which did have functions outside of companionship.
Many people I know would call German Shepherds beautiful dogs; this does not change the fact that those German Shepherd lines which are more concerned with producing show dogs have more dogs with sloped backs than those German Shepherd lines which are more concerned with preserving the dog’s functions.
Form does not always follow function.

Been to many up and down this country and really couldn’t agree with you on that, sorry.
Like someone else said, politics is all behind scenes.
Well for conformation it is.
What one judge see’s is not what another judge sees too.
Conformation which this is, is based on what a judge thinks and that’s it
Now if it is herding, agility I would agree with you but conformation, no

My understanding on that subject is that the German lines are the best in that regard.

What a dollbaby! I hadn’t thought corgis came in long-hair. Interesting to know that it’s a double-recessive. Very pretty. My girl’s pretty, but she’s not purebred anything. More-or-less of a large sheltie or small collie.

I drought she has chased any deer to much of a chance of getting injured and ruining her looks.

Knowing my dad, I wouldn’t have put it past him; but no - I was talking about the dog!
