When I was in sales, back in the seventies, something like the iPad would have been a Godsend. The trickiest part of outside sales was trying to get your brochures, paperwork, and all the other stuff in and set up.
My first thought when I saw the iPad was that anyone who does outside sales and didn't immediately adopt it was an idiot.

I could take or leave my iPad. For the little convenience it's given me, it's increased my tether to work.
For me it's more of a "I don't feel like taking my laptop" device.....which works against me if I have to do anything more than reboot a server or reset a password.
The things I like about it are all non-work related.

It seems that the iPad is geared towards data consumption, and not so much towards data production.

iPads are fun. I don’t own one yet, but I probably will.
But for the Enterprise? Way too scary. Apple still doesn’t get it with regard to security and encryption. The iPhone proves that. Application layer encryption? Please... yes, maybe it’s a start... but they really should be capable of full-disk encryption by now.
Apple has ignored the Enterprise for their whole history. They have a lot of catching up to do if they want to seriously play in that space.
