  5/10/59 "The Fatal Filet Matter" Matter #638 Bob Bailey, Virginia Gregg (Gracie), B.J. Thompson, Jack Edwards (Ray Connelly), Marvin Miller (Morris Bain), Larry Dobkin (Dr. Ransom), Harry Bartell (Jimmy Maxwell), Frank Gerstle (Xavier Donato); Writer/Producer/Director - Jack Johnstone ; Announcer - Dan Cubberly ; Expense Account Total = "Forget it. Ray Connelly was my friend." ; CBS ; Ray Connelly of Continental Insurance Company, Hartford, calls Johnny and asks him to steak dinner and cocktails that night at his place. His wife left last night. Ray suffers from ulcers. He wants to discuss something that happened at the office. Finally, after burning Johnny's "blood red" steak Ray gets around to discussing what is on his mind. He says he is being threatened by a fellow. Before he can mention the name he keels over in pain. Johnny calls Doctor Ransom, but before Ray can be transported to the hospital he dies from internal hemorrhage. Johnny goes back to Ray's apartment, and finds the groceries from Morris Bain's market that his wife had bought. The only thing that was taken out of it was the steak that Ray had eaten. Johnny also finds a cheap cuff-link with the initials XD on it. Johnny goes to Bain's market and gets his delivery list that he sent to the Connelly's. They do not sell meat. Johnny calls Ray's secretary, Gracie, and asks her if she remembers anyone threatening Mr. Connelly. She says there was a man in yesterday who was shouting and pounding on the desk in Mr. Connelly's office. He lost a cuff-link. Johnny calls Dr. Ransom and gets him to do a thorough autopsy of the stomach contents and the doctor finds ground glass. Gracie says she has the name of the angry client. He was Xavier Donato whose father committed suicide and therefore he can't collect on the policy. Johnny talks to Jimmy Maxwell in homicide, but then he goes back to Bain's market because he remembers hearing Bain calling out to an Xavier when he was there. He talks to Xavier Donato who admits that he placed the glass in the steak. Promo for CBS programs "Just Entertainment" with Pat Buttram, and "Just the Facts, Please ", and Lowell Thomas.   5/31/52 "Carmen" Program #6 William Conrad (Matt Dillon), Parley Baer (Chester Proudfoot), Howard McNear (Doc), Michael Ann Barrett (Connie Dell), Jeanette Nolan (Big Kate), Harry Bartell (Major Randall), Don Diamond Shiloh) ; Writer - John Meston ; Music Composer/Conductor - Rex Koury ; Announcer - Roy Rowan ; CBS ; Two soldiers are murdered and a government payroll is stolen. Major Randall who has been in command at Fort Dodge for two months and who Dillon describes as a "hot headed fool", threatens martial law if the killers are not found. Meanwhile, Connie Dell, a new dance hall girl at Big Kate's Saloon, has been very chummy with Corporal Bowers. After checking on her, Matt discovers she has come from Hayes City about a month ago. Dillon contacts Marshall Bill Hickok at Hayes City and learns that while living there Connie Dell was involved with Billy Grounds, who is considered to be a "wild one". After a friend of Corporal Bowers by the name of Private Bone is murdered, Matt rides to Fort Dodge to tell Major Randall. Matt wants to keep the army from taking over the town. He wants Randall to order all soldiers out of Dodge City for the next 48 hours. He then goes to see Big Kate who says that Connie has been seen riding out at night to the Brandy Bend area of the Arkansas River. She doesn't know why. She adds that on the night before the payroll was robbed Connie went for a ride with Corporal Bowers. Matt's suspicions for the murders fall on Bowers. He thinks that Bowers found out where the leak about the payroll money came from and Bowers had to shut up Private Bone. Both soldiers worked in the army accounting department, giving them access to payroll information. Meanwhile, Connie lures Matt out of town for a moonlight ride. Matt accepts, knowing full well that he is the object of an ambush, and that Billy Grounds is waiting to shoot him in the back when they reach Brandy Bend. Dillon plays on what he knows to be Connie's basic decency to allow him to have a chance against Grounds. Before they reach some cottonwoods, she tells Dillon that Billy is hiding there. Alerted, Dillon is able to gun down Billy. Promo for Gene Autry, Tarzan, gangbsters and Stars on the Air tonight. (Sus.) (27:58)
