The top two will share the ticket? Unlikely. That doesn’t happen very often in either party, and has only happened once on the Republican side since primaries started becoming important in the 1950s. In fact, in every election since 1952 other than 1980, the Republican nominee for Vice President was not a Presidential candidate at all, much less the one who came in second in the nomination race.

I don’t see what would make 2012 any different.

Yes you are correct but I’m often wrong so I’ll stand by my prediction. It is what Reagan did. Even in 1976, the ONLY man who ever picked a VP before getting the nomination (which he didn’t get anyway). Does anyone remember who that was?
Clue #1 He was a Senator
Clue #2 He was from Pennsylvania
Clue #3 He was a Liberal
