Palin: Mubarak Relationship “Not Moral or Ethical”

On whether the United States should have been giving foreign aid to President Mubarak: “Over 30 years of standing by Mubarak’s side and he essentially standing with America on a lot of our interests it makes sense that we have a reciprocal relationship but no it is not moral or ethical. We are watching Mubarak and realizing the billions of dollars that have been spent, he’s become rich, a lot of the dictatorship has personally benefited. So where do those funds end up? We need to pull back on those countries where the money isn't doing any good."

Mubarak could have spent those 30 years and our billions to modernize his economy and liberalize the country. Instead, he and his buddies got rich for decades

And, we could have a Islamic fundamentalist regime in his place, threatening Israel, the free world and trade through the Suez Canal.

Like it or not, it WAS in our best interest to keep him in power and there is no evidence a regime more favorable to human rights was an alternative.

Time magazine took two separate questions from Judge Napoltano and combined them to her answer. One was about Murbarak and the other question was about foreign aid which she was right on......it doesn’t matter to you guys anyway though

“No, she’s saying we shouldn’t have done it at all. “

Really, perhaps you have a different quote than this story has.

It seems too many on our side like to use that same techniques as the left to defeat those on our side they do not support. To poopoo Sarah Palin as stupid, or simplistic or uninformed is just as irresponsible for someone on the GOP side as it is when Chris Matthrews or the NYT doing it.

Palin is plenty educated and has plenty of critical thought. More so than at least 75% of Washington.

She said that Murbarak supported our interest!

Then, she shouldn't be claiming or relationship with him wasn't moral or ethical and implying we shouldn't have supported his regime.

More double talk from Ms. Palin, just like we're getting on the homosexual issue from her.

No, she's saying we shouldn't have done it at all.

No, she said this:

Over 30 years of standing by Mubarak’s side and he essentially standing with America on a lot of our interests it makes sense

She said the relationship made sense...that implies it was the right thing to do.

she said "pull back." As in, "don't do it."

We should pull back. It's not good that Mubarak used so much of our funding to get rich. She didn't say pull back all the way because the relationship "made sense". She's saying pull back on the funding that goes into a black hole.

She's exactly correct.

America has no moral common ground with a Muslim Arab military dictator who has saved up $70 billion in American contributions for his own pleasure.

We are currently in a crappy situation. Calling this decades-long disaster a wonderful party does nobody any favors. Recognize what we've done wrong, start unwinding it, don't do it again.

Today is a good day to die.
I didn't say for whom.

Using the leftwing press to attack Palin AGAIN?

Sorry, this is a careful twisting of what she actually said. She has condemned the Muslim Brotherhood and said that Obama and the press don’t know what they’re talking about.

That’s a separate issue from whether we should continue Jimmy Carter’s arrangement of paying the Egyptian government a billion a year, if most of the money is wasted. Maybe we could cut back on that a little bit?

What she did do was denigrate Mubarak's getting so rich off our funds

We knew what he was doing and continued to fund him because it was in our national security issue. It would have been insane to do anything else given no viable alternative.

You mean it made sense (which is what Palin said)?

It's not insane to oversee the money we give these countries so that "our dictators" don't get rich.

Would she have rathered we had our military protecting the Suez.

Would she have rathered lives lost in Israel and Egypt be squandered.

Would she have preferred the muslim brotherhood had the Egyptians living under Sharia law.

Sorry, better to have spent dollars than American lives.

As I've said before Pissant is the Joseph Goebbels of FR - all propaganda all the time. Either he's trying to diss Sarah Palin - an obsession that seems to have totally consumed him - or he's pushing his flavor of the day (”Yo-yo”, “Yo-yo Jr.", Bachmann, DeMint, etc.)

Well, we're two for two now. You have this very bad habit of only pulling out the sentences that fit your own views.

Buh bye.

Baloney.

I merely cut and pasted Palin's clear words....not my views.

You seem to be unclear about more than one issue.

saved up $70 billion in American contributions for his

HE must be a savvier investor than even old Hillary and her Cattle Futures. Considering we haven't even given Egypt 1/10th that amount in cash aid. The largest chunk of "aid" we've given them by far is the credits to purchase military hardware, training, maintenance, etc. Maybe he sold them the hardware on Ebay.

Just what is ‘our line’ anymore? More and more it seems to be tied to the wrong people.

Very telling and a common MSM ploy.

It's amazing how many Freepers still fall for it.

No, her own confused yapping. Unless you can tell me Time misquoted her. Then I’ll ask that the thread be removed.
