Isn't it better to have the local government levy the sales tax? It's closer to the voters/taxpayers who can throw the politicians out if they don't like it.

California ranks #1 in voter stupidity...continue to vote for politicians that allow for the importation of poverty, support these people with generous welfare payments, overregulate businesses and enact strict environmental laws that have diminishing results on the climate, and overtax succsessful enterprise. Kind of like Michigan going back decades...
