Added Dragonfly. I usually avoid Kevin Costner movies like the plague but will give it a shot on your recommendation.

Added Ink (interesting looking movie) and Delicatessen. These are exactly what I was looking for.

Added the IT crowd. Since I work in IT, I just HAD to!

Added the Sherlock Holmes series with Jeremy Brett. My wife and I watched them on PBS for many years and Brett simply defined the Holmes character to me. His was the best I have ever seen. Not too much into westerns however... :)

Dark Shadows? As in the TV series from the 70’s? Really?

Cheers,

Added The Big Lebowski. Careful man there a beverage here !

Not so sure about Sophie Scholl: The Final Days. Is it as depressing as it sounds?

Added 24. Once again a series I found out about after it had been on for a few seasons and never got to catch up.

Added Blackadder, Hogfather ,Archangel. Still not sure about Dark Shadows.

Added Valhalla Rising and Flame and Citron. Valhalla Rising has been suggested to me by numerous folks so I moved it way up in my queue.

Added - Red Dwarf, The IT Crowd. I added Crest of the Stars
and Tenchi Myuo for my son who is a big anime fan.

Cheers,

“Dollhouse”

Turned out to be an interesting series — too bad it got cancelled just as it was maturing...

You would probably like La Femme Nikita - the Canadian-location series with Peta Wilson, not the poor remake.

I have tried to watch Black Hawk Down several times. After reading the book however and knowing the idiocy of the Clinton Administration, I get so angry watching it I have to shut it off.

Nice to know we agree on Zombieland however !

Added Red Dwarf. The Straight Story is not available for streaming yet :(

Sadly, Frailty,Kill Bill,Sling Blade and The Notebook are not available for streaming ! Thank you for the suggestions however.

+1 on Shaun of the Dead. One of the better zombie comedies I have seen :) I will take a look at the Trinity series. Not a big western fan but I will give it a shot. Added Outland and Enemy Mine, a couple of Sci Fi gems. I will pass on The National Parks: America’s Best Idea by Kent Burns. I find his documentaries sooooo boring.

Cheers,

Is Costner another hollywood commie? He is a good actor in my opinion, but then so are many of the other h-comms.

The Fastest Indian was one of my favorites. And one of mine as well. A great story! Added While She Was Out, it looks good. The Girl Next Door is not available for streaming :(

Added Ip Man and Night Watch. I am really looking forward to these ! Dr. Who is still so ... british ;)

Added Dexter and watched District 9 last night. Excellent ! Nurse jackie not available for streaming :(

I will give arrested development a shot and I LOVE futurama ! I didnt know colombo was even on Netflix so thanks for that. I will take a look at the old Charlie Chan movies but they may not be my cuppa tea.

I agree completely with The Hangover. I hadnt laughed so hard in years.

Cheers,

“Boondock Saints.”

See the sequel also - surprised us by being AT LEAST as good as the original...

My “if they’re on streaming, check them out” list:

“The Whole Nine Yards” (Bruce Willis, funny, sequel not so much)

“Bandits” (comedy Willis and Thornton HYSTERICAL together)

“Wonder Falls” and “Pushing Daisies” (same makers, both funny/weird)

Speaking of weird, “Dead Like Me” Ellen Muth is no big shakes, but Mandy Patinkin is pretty darned good.

Someone mentioned “Pan’s Labyrinth” Also by del Toro “Devil’s Backbone”, “Hellboy”.

“Taking Chance” (if this doesn’t bring a tear to your eye, you have no heart)

“Band of Brothers”

Try the British series “Torchwood.” Sort of X Files-ish, set in Wales. Stories of a top secret gov’t agency that investigates alien events and weird cases. Some really good stories.

Netflix has the most remarkable algorithm for recommending movies that I have ever seen. For my wife and I, they’re almost always right.

Give Netflix a movie history (i.e. rate the movies you like and some of the movies you hate) and then follow their recommendations.

OK. I give up.

I’ll put in my list, but I’m telling you, it’s from a different place -

Dead Like Me (R rated for language, and one scene in the first episode, but excellently written and fun)
Fawlty Towers
All Creatures Great and Small
Ken Burns America: The Shakers
The King of Kong (Doc about 1980’s game players: Chasing Ghosts was better, but this is ok)
Laura
Them!
Miss Marple with Joan Hickson and All the Great Sherlock Holmes, especially Jeremy Brett
Walk Don’t Run (I love Cary Grant - this one is hopelessly outdated but it’s still great)
The End
How to Succeed in Business (Yes, it’s an old musical)
Tin Pan Alley (Yes, it’s a REALLY old musical, but it has Alice Faye and Betty Grable at their best and its also OOP, I’d buy it in a heartbeat)
Blithe Spirit (Very British old comedy written by Noel Coward)
Arsenic and Old Lace (More Cary Grant)
Tin Man (a strange Sci Fi reworking of The Wizard of Oz that’s really quite good, in a quirky sort of way)
She-Devil (add a star if you’ve gone through a nasty divorce)
Bedazzled (Cook and Moore)
