The Mansfield school district has backed off plans to implement an Arabic studies program after almost 200 people showed up with questions at a parents meeting at Cross Timbers Intermediate School on Monday night.

Superintendent Bob Morrison apologized for not communicating with parents and invited them to be part of developing the curriculum.

The MISD runs a long way. I don't live in Mansfield but I am in their School Dist. I live out in the country. I don't know even about how many Muslims live around here. Muslims own a lot of business around here.

Mansfield has very few Muslims. Nearby Arlington would actually make more sense; it has many Muslims (and Hindu) immigrants who came to study at UT Arlington and then stayed. Dallas, Fort Worth and Irving (larger cities) all have mosques, but so does Arlington - along with 2 Muslim private schools.

If Arlington proposed this in a public school with many Muslim students, the demographics would make sense. But Mansfield, being further south and more rural, is mostly Caucasian and Hispanic.

The local school districts are screaming about losing funding. They are cutting people and programs but not the fat cat idiots in administration. They want people to hurt so they’ll complain.

However, with stupid stunts like these people will tell them to hit the road.

I’ll be emailing my state rep to keep education on the cutting board. We need school vouchers.

Perhaps there is a need for non Muslim speakers of Arabic.
