Taubes’ previous book, “Good Calories, Bad Calories,” is a gem, but it’s very dense with both science and a somewhat rambling history of “how we got here.” What he shows is that food science is EXACTLY like “climate science,” completely polluted and distorted by activists who captured a certain group in the government. With food, it’s the “low-fat, anti-meat” people who pushed carbs-—creating the obesity crisis. (My wife is a phenomenal baker, and Gary’s diet works, if I can get around my wife’s brownies and cookies!!)

What I like about this book is his use of studies from people who use the eat less/excercise more advice; yet, their very own studies show that neither works.

Hubby and I know we have to do this; but, neither of us likes eating like this. Yes, we lose weight, but he likes my garlic mashed potatoes and I like pasta and we both like pizza. Sigh. I know he's right; but it is difficult to do.
