Jeff Fisher out in Tennessee
ESPN.com news services
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- In a surprising move, the Tennessee Titans have parted ways with Jeff Fisher, who just completed his 16th full season as the NFL's longest-tenured coach.
The team said in a release Thursday night that "Fisher will no longer be the head coach of the team." The Titans announced the move within an hour of a report by SI.com that they were negotiating Fisher's departure.
A source told ESPN's John Clayton that one of the final disagreements that led to Fisher's departure involved his son, Brandon. Jeff Fisher wanted to have his son on the staff as a quality control coach and thought that was going to be approved. Brandon Fisher helped out during the season while offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger was receiving cancer treatment.
For several years, Adams has stressed he didn't want family hired on the Titans coaching staff and he apparently stuck by those principles this week in conversations with Fisher.

Well, PTI said a week or so ago that Fisher was gone because he could get along with Vince Young. The owner sent out a Christmas card with photo of Owner and Vince and no Jeff. Handwriting was on the wall. Tail wagging the dog. I’d rather have Fisher than wack-job Vinny.
It boiled down to if Vince Young stayed then Fisher had to leave. We know who won.
whoops. should have said “could not get along with” Vinny
Fisher had a great run, especially considering he never won a championship and his playoff record was spotty at best. I’m sure he can have his choice of jobs as they open in the next year.
This really does surprise me. Please add me to the NFL ping list.
Mike
yawn
The Eagles need a DC. That would be like bringing back Buddy Ryan.
For anyone who`s interested the Titans will have a press conference at 11 cst today
This was all there was on local TV last night
The Titans, is this the same team that was coached by Denzell Washington?
Go Stillers, yunz gonna watch the game at a dahntahn bar? Drink some pop and eat Islay's chipped-chopped ham, n'at.
Ooooh. I’d thought with previous announcements he was safe. As much as I like Fisher you gotta admit since that SB against the Rams he’s had middling success at best, whatever magic he had in Tennessee seems to be worn out, hopefully he’ll find more elsewhere... in the NFC preferably so my Steelers won’t have to face him.
Technically - he HAS won a championship. We were in the Super Bowl against the Rams. You have to win the AFC or NFC Championship to get to the Super Bowl. (Trivia note - the winning touchdown to beat the TENNESSEE Titans was caught by Isaac Bruce, from my alma-mater, The University of MEMPHIS. I had cheered for Isaac for years. I found it hard to be upset...)

I agree on that, I’d like to see him at the Vikes but the slots filled.. for now. another team that has stunk it up a bit , even after going 15-1 a few years back.
He’s a good coach, hope he does well at whatever he chooses to do.
Maybe something like a "Get Back Coach."
