HEATING FUEL HORROR STORIES
self | 1/26/2011 | self

I recieved a Propane delivery today at $4.04 a gallon. Luckily I am a Paraniod FReeper so the hit was $222 for 55 gallons

Before I took precautions I used about 800 gallons a year, Heating and Cooking, this price is insane.

Anyother horror stories out there.

No horror story, but look at furnaces that can burn used motor oil. You can get it for about a buck a gallon.

Kerosene $4.00+ /gal at Speedway station in Indianapolis. We try to save on natural gas heat by using a kerosene heater supplemental. Seems we are screwed either way.

We use natural gas for heating, last month’s bill was 242.00. Since this month it has been alot colder, just can’t wait to get the next bill!

Well, let’s see: I just got a $394 bill for natural gas + $156 for electricity for December 20-January 20. We are in the countryside of Maryland about 25 miles from DC so it’s not all that cold. I kept the temperature at 60. Kind of frustrating because I can’t install a woodburning stove in my house without spending a huge amount ($10K) on carpentry, etc.

My sons employer, a fleet operator, does that along with several other people he knows, sounds smart to me.

Guess I am lucky to pay $82.00 year round. However, it it usually not totally paid off by September/October when we have to turn it on again.

Sadly things in America are only going to get worse. Seems like FR have a lot of Jimmy Buffett/Obama fans. Blame Bush according to Jimmy Buffett cause Bush caused the Gulf spill.

I installed a much more efficient heater. I just took delivery of propane before this last blizzard, and it was $1.65 a gallon. 159 gallons for 6 weeks of below zero weather. About $45 a week. Now that this is over, it will take about 250 gallons for the rest of the year.

1. Obama is killing the dollar with his overspending,

2. the Arabs are laughing at any political pressure the US is threatening to hold the price down.

I paid attention to the usual small living people that post here, I installed two pellet stoves, I live in the Great White North and wanted to get away from wood. I also installed an on demand hot water heater, made a large difference.

Good luck...Sure hope it warms up for ya.

Where do YOU live? Do your outdoor temps range from -17 to +111 as mine do? Have been even outside of that range pre-steve86.
