We had one of those when we were kids.

We got an early lesson about life when we put red ants in with the black ones.

Few people know this, but the “Ant Farm” was Mr. Levine’s SECOND attempt at breaking in to the ‘animals at working between two sheets of glass’-style-educational-toy market.

His much more ambitious “Ground Hog Farm” can only be categorized as a colossal failure.

It was expensive, it was WAY too large for most kids’ bedrooms, the feeding hole at the top was too small and was accessible only via a ladder (sold separately) and it was almost impossible to keep clean. On top of that, in almost every case, the vast majority of the 35 baby groundhogs included in the price of each set (mailed separately) died inside their plastic shipping bottles a couple days before delivery...

...

Seriously, though, RIP Mr. Levine. I had one of your Ant Farms when i was a kid, and it was very cool.
